The Bible claims an Exodus took place. Many state it was not an actual event. Since the Bible makes a positive claim, in that an 'Exodus" took place, do we have positive evidence to support the claim?
For Debate:
1. Outside the Bible saying so, do we have evidence? If so, what?
2. If it should turn out that the Exodus did not take place, does this fact sway the Christian believer's position at all? Or, does it not matter one way or another?

In case anyone is wondering... The avatar quote states the following:
"I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness."

Post #271I think the points you had can be answered without watching the video. But, if you disagree, why did you post them here?POI wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 6:26 amThey kind of can't. ...1213 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:14 amOk, so the questions that I took from your post [Replying to POI in post #75] were not actually from the video? I think they could be answered without watching the poor atheist propaganda.

Post #272I acknowledge that time can and has erased evidence from ancient history.marke wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:23 pmTime has erased massive amounts of evidence from ancient history, yet archaelogists are still uncovering more evidence that supports the Biblical historical narratives.
I'll try asking again.
Why do you think there is no evidence for an exodus event as told in the Bible? Millions of people wandering an area for decades, and there is no evidence for it. Has your claimed morphed into 'time has erased all evidence'?

Post #273If you watched the video, you would understand that the answers you gave are not sufficient. This is why I offered the video and the questions associated with them.

Post #275You are wrong. Evidence that supports the Biblical record exist whether you are willing to admit it or not.Clownboat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:18 pmI acknowledge that time can and has erased evidence from ancient history.marke wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:23 pmTime has erased massive amounts of evidence from ancient history, yet archaelogists are still uncovering more evidence that supports the Biblical historical narratives.

Here are just two of dozens of sources detailing archaelogogical evidence that support the Biblical record.

Post #277I am in fact not wrong that there isn't evidence for the exodus event as told in the Bible. Your bait and switch to now discussing Biblical evidence in general and not the exodus event like we are discussing here is shameful and you're not fooling anyone. Please see the title of the thread you joined and note that it does NOT claim that there is no evidence at all for things contained in the Bible.
I searched both of these sites for 'exodus' and found nothing. Here are just two of dozens of sources detailing archaelogogical evidence that support the Biblical record.

Jesus would be rolling in his grave right now if he knew how dishonest you are being here. Shame on you.
To remind the readers, my question that this poster cannot answer has been: "Why do you think there is no evidence for an exodus event as told in the Bible?"
Instead, this poster created a strawman argument by falsely pretending that I'm asking why there is no evidence that supports the Bible in general. Shame, shame, shame. The real irony is that if we could ask Jesus who is being more Christlike in this debate, it would be myself. When it comes to debating, does it seem that I am more honest and therefore the better Christian?

Matthew 7:15–23 contains a two-sided warning about false believers. A religious leader may appear respectable and wise, but you must look at the fruit of his life in order to know.
You will know them by their fruits.

Re: The Exodus! Did it Really Happen?
Post #278Obviously the reason is because it would challenge a belief they are desperately trying to maintain. Sticking your head in the sand when evidence is provided is a mechanism to remain ignorant, thus the desired belief is protected. There is no other reason I can think of to refuse to view evidence.

Post #279It is painful to listen his deceiving speech, especially when it is done in his style. If I listen it, then I have to comment also there all the false claims. And unfortunately I don't yet have enough time for that. But, I hope I can soon do that.

Post #280It's ironic... I feel this exact same way every time my wife asks me to attend church with her, and I have to listen to the pastor.
