JESUS IS NOT GOD

Post by onewithhim »

I would very much like to get opinions on this subject. I'll provide several verses from the King James Version of the Bible, and I ask you to give me feed-back.

Jesus' words:

1) "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise." (John 5:19)

2) "My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me." (John 7:16)

3) "Neither came I of myself, but he sent me." (John 8:42)

He replied, after the Pharisees accused him of making himself God:
4) "Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the SON of God?" (John 10:36)

5) "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say....Whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak." (John 12:49,50)

6) To his Father in prayer: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God , and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)

7) "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God." (John 20:17)

To John in the Revelation:
8) "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God..." (Revelation 3:12)

Do these quotations show that Jesus was NOT God?

Do YOU believe that he claimed to be God?

Yes, Jesus (the word) was in the beginning with God(theos), and God(theos) was Jesus (the word made flesh). John 1:14.
The original Greek when read plain proves that Jesus is God.

Jhn 1:1 In  the beginning   was  the  word,  and   the   word  was  with   God,   and  God   was the  word.

Yor are incorrectly equating the Word (God) with the Word made flesh. The Word made flesh is the man Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Jesus was born of Mary about 2024 years ago.

If Jesus was God He could not die.
Jesus has the glory with the Father before the world was. (John 17:5)
Being in the form of God, and took upon Him the form of a servant in the likeness of men.(Phil 2:6,7)
Being the Son of man and Son of God, Jesus died as being the son of man (flesh), but have the power to take His life again as God's Son.
Can you provide a Bible verse that a man resurrected himself?

1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Jhn 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father
That didn't mean that Jesus resurrected himself. He was saying that his life was so perfectly in line with his Father's commands that he was worthy of being resurrected

"Being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death....For this reason also, God highly exalted him..." (Philippians 2:8,9, New American Standard Bible)

"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that he might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit." (IPeter 3:18, New American Standard Bible)
Do you believe that Jesus have the glory which He had with the Father before the world was? Yes or no.(John 17:5)

Jhn 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
You did not answer my question above onewithhim.
A follow up question, what is Jesus' state at that time before the world was? Is He a man or a spirit like God?

Jesus was a spirit like God.

You claim that Jesus was a spiritual being like God. As proof of your claim you quote the following scripture verse which confirms that Jesus was not a spirit, but a man.

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:8)

You are confusing the man Jesus with the God identified as the Word.

Jesus is not the Word, Jesus is the Word made flesh.

The Word is God. The Word made flesh is the man Jesus Christ.

They both lived at the same time as different beings, one as a Spirit and one as a man. Then, after living a sinless human life, Jesus fulfilled His mission by dying on the cross.

Yor are incorrectly equating the Word (God) with the Word made flesh. The Word made flesh is the man Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

He has the glory which he had before the world was, and even more glory, since he obeyed his Father right up to death on a 'cross.' (Philippians 2:8,9)

You claim that Jesus was a spiritual being like God. As proof of your claim you quote the following scripture verse which confirms that Jesus was not a spirit, but a man.
He was a man when he was on Earth preparing to give his life in obedience to the Father. He was not a man, a human, when he went back to heaven.
The WORD became the Son of man, when the Holy Ghost became His Father, physically entering in to Earth
to defeat evil and take back the keys of death and to hell from the devils to return as the Son of man
to His former glory in heaven as in the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with GOD and the WORD was GOD.
The Word wasn't God, he was WITH God. He can't be with himself, can he?
The Father is not the Son.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Father, and God was the Word.
The lexicon define "God", in Greek "theos" in John 1:1 as the Trinity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

θεός theos
Thayer Definition:
1) a god or goddess, a general name of deities or divinities
2) the Godhead, trinity
2a) God the Father, the first person in the trinity
2b) Christ, the second person of the trinity
2c) Holy Spirit, the third person in the trinity
