It is fairly widely understood that the term "Christ" means the "anointed one", and so "Jesus Christ" really means "Jesus the Anointed".
For debate, should the anointed of God ever be considered to be God?
Does God ever anoint Himself?
Should the anointed OF God, ever be considered

Should the anointed OF God, ever be considered
Post #1 My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

Jesus was true God AND true man. The anointing pertained to the human part of Jesus.
The part of Him that is human He does.Does God ever anoint Himself?

Post #3Doesn't every believer, (and arguably) every human, contain a "spark of the Divine"? Aren't we all made in God's image? And as "Temples of the Holy Spirit", don't we all have a composite nature, not just Jesus?RightReason wrote: [Replying to Elijah John]

Yet God, through the prophets only annointed humans, composite or not. He did not annoint "gods".
And if, as the name implies, Jesus Christ is Jesus the Annointed One, who annointed Jesus, when?
Was it God through John the Baptist?

Also, God did not only anoint humans. He anointed angels (Lucifer in particular) . . .
“You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. - Ezekiel 28:14

The only people who are "temples of the Holy Spirit" are people who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour. One can only be filled with the Holy Spirit when one is re-born in Jesus.

Actually, if the notion of the "Divine Spark" is a "New Age" belief, they got it from Judaism. Even an Evangelical pamphlet I read which summarized the different reiigions in comaparison with Christianity said so, then rejected Judaism along with all the other competitors to Chrsitianity.
So, you seem to be saying that only Evangelical "born again" Christans harbor the Holy Spirit. How about the adherants to other great ethical religions? Pope John Paul II writes that whatever is good, beautiful and true in the other great world reigions, is the product of the activity of the Holy Sprit in those religions. (or words to that effect)
And the Orthodox Church, which holds that the Spirit "prodeeds from the Father", opens a window that other non-Christian people can be led by the Spirit as well.
This in contrast, (despite JP II's statements) to the RCC and liturgical Protestant Churches, who hold the position that the Spirit proceeds from the "Father and the Son".
That would seem to exlude other religions, unless of course the Son also send the Spirit to those other religions unbenownest of the Spirit's origin.

I see no reason why someone anointed by anyone be the person doing the anointing or even be equal to them simply by anointing.
Now of course with things 'of God', common sense doesn't work. There always seems to be a "yes, but" clause we can play with so there's that to consider.
The Queen can knight someone that doesn't make them a Queen or King really (not an apples to apples comparison I know).should the anointed of God ever be considered to be God?

If the former, that is considerd a heresy by the Church. If the latter, I agree completely.
