Should the anointed OF God, ever be considered

Post by Elijah John »

It is fairly widely understood that the term "Christ" means the "anointed one", and so "Jesus Christ" really means "Jesus the Anointed".

For debate, should the anointed of God ever be considered to be God?

Does God ever anoint Himself?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

When Jesus walked the earth he was not "a part of" God, who is the Father.
It is my understanding that He was. Jesus was true God AND true man.
Jesus himself told us that the Father is "the only true God", and after his resurrection that this Father is "my God and your God".
You left out a few passages . . .

50 Biblical Proofs That Jesus is God

And you left out your refutation of my reference to the very words of Jesus himself.

I've seen all those before and they are not "proofs".
Well guess we would have to address what all of Scripture has to say. The reason I just provided the link instead of diving into all the ways we can know Jesus is God is because that seems to be a topic unto itself for another thread.
Yeah, that would be a topic for another post. I've responded to this question many times before, but if someone wants to post on it, I would read it.

I would refer to the earlier post about us being made in God's image.

Gen. 1:26And God said,"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."

Gen. 5:3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he begot a son in his likeness after his image, and he named his son Seth.

Interesting, how do you reconcile the two verses?

Sounds like, Cain and Abel were in God's image(heavenly hosts, maybe too) too. The rest were not completely in God's image, like, but not exactly. So, that would mean today, we are a copy of a copy to the Nth power as we approach infinity.(which might explain hair types and colors, races, infirmities, etc.) Which may indicate our separation from God. Which would mean, we could still be near God but its exponentially harder for some of us or maybe even all.

I don't think it has to be reconciled more than realized. God started it all and we continue but slightly different and further, sometimes. Of course, if the genes all assemble at conception right, we get an extraordinary person.

I shared it for all who have been taught we are made in God's image. Which is true to begin, but slightly less, probably , now. I believe , for some reason unknown to me, we still have His visage, but other hardware(internal) may not be quite up to snuff.

But, all that is Hypothesis. :dunno

It would be helpful if you used the actual names used by the disciples. Yeshua means YHWH saves. "Christ" is a Greek word meaning anointed. All prophets, kings, high priests, and judges of Israel were anointed.
The term "Jesus Christ" would be pronounced hey Zeus, or hail Zeus the anointed one in Spanish, and earth pig the anointed one in Latin. None of the anointed ones of Israel were considered God. They were considered gods (John 10:35)
It is the son of man who will come at the end of the age to rule (Mt 24:30). Those that consider Yeshua as God, would be having "other gods before me", breaking the first commandment, and writing the mark of the beast/Constantine, on their forehead. Good luck with that one.

New American Standard Bible John 10:35
"If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),

You are skipping Yeshua's message. One must take on a new wine skin, to hold the new wine. That is done, not by eating the testimony of men, but eating the bread of life, which is the "Word of God". (Mt 9:17) The Roman Catholic canon, is not the "Word of God", but the product of the daughter of Babylon. (Zech 2:7) & (Rev 17:5). You are what you eat.

This phrase has come to us via quite a tortuous route. Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote, in Physiologie du Gout, ou Meditations de Gastronomie Transcendante, 1826:

"Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu es." [Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are].

The OP was focused on Jesus the Christ, as in Jesus THE annionted. Not on "Christians" or "little Christs", per se. Though it could be argued they too, are annointed by their baptisms.

Not sure about the other stuff you are saying in your post here.
:?:

But I think we agree that Jesus (Yahshua) is not "God".

Let's say that Thor and Isis got together and gave each other hot oil massages. They would both be gods. They would both be anointed by gods.

I don't see the problem.
