Sex in heaven?

Post by JamesWesley »

I've often heard that once Christians reach Heaven they will recieve a new body as well as everlasting life. The same Christians say that they will no longer have need for sex for they will live forever.

:(

No sex in heaven? If Heaven is supposed to be a paradise, wouldn't there be sex, the thing which the majority of us enjoy in our life?

Is there sex in heaven? I hope to God there is.

No, there's no sex in heaven according to the Bible. God says that sex is for marriage on earth, plus Jesus said that there is no marriage in heaven; therefore, no sex in heaven.

However, marriage is a weak reflection of the eternal relationship between Christ and His church. So, IMO, although there will be no sex, in heaven there will be communion and relationship that is even better than sex.

What's the chapter and verse for this?
God says that sex is for marriage on earth,
C & V?
plus Jesus said that there is no marriage in heaven; therefore, no sex in heaven.
So what's the reasoning here? Why should a lack of marriage preclude sex?

According to conservative Christian theology, sex outside of marriage is forbidden and sex is for procreation. There will be no marriage in heaven and with eternal life, there will be no need for procreation. Ergo, no sex. Heck there will be no gender either.

Maybe there will be something better than sex.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

As I recall, at least according to the story, Jesus just says they will not be getting married in Heaven. It doesn't say anything about sex. In Heaven maybe sex is just fun and used for bonding between people.

the problem with that is that sex outside of marriage is a sin. There isn't going to be sin in heaven, so no marriage=no sex.
We do not hate others because of the flaws in their souls, we hate them because of the flaws in our own.

I like my idea better.
So some say sex outside of marriage is a sin. Why is it a sin? If there is no marriage then there is no sin unless maybe they are all married? Then sin would never be outside the marriage because they are all married. One big happy marriage between Christ and the Church his bride.
So even if that can't get around some silly rule the law can always be changed.
We don't sacrifice children and that was once the law.

Maybe in Heaven they just spirit meld and it makes sex look rather dull.

If one can't be married in heaven then it's hardly logical to ban sex because one can't be married. It's like declaring you can't drink lemonade unless you can fly by flapping your arms. Why bother citing the conditional when the conditional is an impossibility. Simply saying, "NO sex In heaven. PERIOD! will do the job. No need to clutter a "law" with inconsequentials. Of course it might be nice to know why sex is a sin in heaven.

Anyone have a good idea?

We are discussing the heaven of Jesus Christ, not the heaven of anyone else (at least I am :) ) What I mean is that Christ defines and decides what is reasonable in His heaven, and in His righteous heaven there is no sex outside of marriage and no marriage in heaven. I gave some chapter/verse on it above.

True. However, sex isn’t only for procreation, according to the Bible. It also binds a husband and wife together in their relationship and is for comfort and pleasure. It is a way to be vulnerable in safety with someone who has vowed to be faithful and to love and respect in an honorable lifetime commitment. (Genesis 2:23-25, Genesis 18:11-13, Genesis 24:67, Exodus 20:14, Numbers 5:20, Deuteronomy 24:5, 2 Samuel 12:24, Song of Solomon 4:8-10, Song of Solomon 4:10-12, Song of Solomon 5:1-3, Malachi 2:15-16, Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Corinthians 7:2-4, 1 Corinthians 7:33-34, Hebrews 13:4)

As far as I’m aware, the Bible does not say that human beings will not have gender in heaven.
