Psalm 82:6,and it shows just yet another quote mine from the new testament. In Psalm 82, God is speaking to other divine beings .DeBunkem wrote:Where was he quoting from?
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

It's interesting poetry providing an etiology/justification of monotheism.goat wrote:In Psalm 82, God is speaking to other divine beings .

Yes, it is. It is saying that the other 'divine beings' that are worshiped by other cultures are claim to be gods, but are not really gods, since they will eventually die.Jayhawker Soule wrote:It's interesting poetry providing an etiology/justification of monotheism.goat wrote:In Psalm 82, God is speaking to other divine beings .

Actually, I think it's a bit more than that. It's not simply that they are not really gods, but that they are demoted to the status of mortals (if not altogether human mortals). The Psalm serves as transition from the monolatry of the early Middle East (as reflected in Deuteronomy 32:8) to the monotheism of the Sh'ma.goat wrote:Yes, it is. Re: Question
Post #10It's hardly our fault that your Jesus is reported to have referred to Jewish text or, for that matter, that you asked about the reference. Do you have some issue with Jews discussing their writings?martian wrote:Am I in the non-christian portion of this forum?
