It means that we are all evolving into Gods.

Are you a parent?
What do you want for your children?
To be less than what you are or better?

God the Father wants the same of us.

Jesus could not or would not put himself above the father so he said that they were one.
In fact Jesus did put himself above the father and holy ghost when saying that we could only get to heaven through him.

There are a number of places, Genesis for one, where we are told ---to be as Gods, knowing good and evil. Not a particularly hard task.

Jesus is just recognizing our potential and future.

Now having said all this as if I believe that Jesus really existed, let me say that I do not but do think I understand scripture better than most believers because I recognize it as anything but literal even as some passages can be understood from a literal standpoint.

So recognize your inheritance of evolving perfection and know that we are all God WIPs.

The real God would have it no other way. Like any good father.
