When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

Re: Paradise on Earth
[Replying to Capbook in post #3160]
I know I am coming into this discussion late, and I am not sure what the back and forth is really about, but I understand Capbook to be directly stating what he means:
Earth (in this context) does mean 'inhabitants of the land.'
BUT...
"Inhabitants of the land" means humans - AND - animals - AND - plants.
Not just humans.
Like from Psalm 150:6...
Let every living, breathing thing Praise JAH.
Every living and breathing thing includes humans, animals, and plants. All of these are being called upon to praise JAH.
Does that help?
Peace again to you all.

Did you not interpret "earth" as human society? Yes or No.
2. If yes, then the earth sings, which include people, animals, some fowls and etc.
3. Then for me that is the correct metonym/substitution, not just the human society.
One of the lexicon definition of "earth" is land inhabitants.I am not talking about human society please stop mentioning that. My question is about " "land inhabitants" includes people, animals, plants, some fowls and etc."

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #3164So saying EARTH instead of "people, animals, some fowls etc" would be a metonym correct?
My question therefore for you is:
Are there any METONYMS in the bible?
PSALM 66:4 King James Bible
All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.

Earth (erets) one definition is land inhabitants.
Land inhabitants includes people, animals, some fowls etc.
If you say "earth as substitute to people, animals, some fowls etc."(metonym applied) I think no because earth has many definition.
It might be "land inhabitants as substitute to people, animals, some fowls, etc."
But it could never be "human society" as substitute to earth.

Post #3169Not exactly, let's read the dictionary definition again...
METONYMY
: a figure of speech consisting of the use of the name of one thing for that of another of which it is an attribute or with which it is associated...
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/metonymy
- What is the name we give to the things that live on this planet?
- What is the name we give to the planet itself ?
