Lake of fire

Post by achilles12604 »

Question for everyone. The lake of fire referred to by the traditional Christian/ Catholic/ Fundi churches.

Is it literally a lake of fire? It is figurative? Other?
It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

Then how do you understand Ezek 28:18? That mentions ashes.
EZEKIEL28:18

I will cause a fire to break out in your midst, and it will consume you. I will reduce you to ashes on the earth before all those looking at you.
This verse is a warning that the nation if Tyre will be destroyed.

Fire symbolizes destruction
Ashes symbolizes evidence of that destruction

Gee, and here I thought it had to do with reigning with Christ during the millennium.

My bad.

Ezekiel 28 is prophecy.

It has to do with God's called who get a bit too haughty.
Those ashes are symbolic.

You said yourself that "everyone must be destroyed" to gain life. I rebutted that idea by reminding us that salvation is salvation from being destroyed.

Do you believe there is a process to being saved?

Only that one must admit he is sinful and that he wants to change. That is repentance. Then he aligns his life with God's commands and principles, after accepting the sacrifice of Jesus. Then we must endure to the end (Matt.24:13). Jesus died so that we wouldn't have to be destroyed.

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (Rom 6:6)

Peace.

He is saying that our old natures that had been sinful will be gone forever and we can go on with our eternal lives. The literal human is not destroyed.
