Post #221EBA wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 8:50 pm So is it safe to say you do believe the following scriptures?
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. (Isaiah 25:8)
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. (1 Corinthians 15:26)
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:54)
Correct
What do you see as incompatible in the above?

That's a contradiction.

Re: Does Hell Exist?
By "eternal death" I mean death from which nobody can return to life.
By destroy death I mean , the living will no longer be subject to (adamic)* death. Nobody living will ever have to die.

Post #224OK, I still think the term eternal death makes no sense and neither does eternal life. I mean this with the utmost humility.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 12:28 am
By "eternal death" I mean death from which nobody can return to life.
I don't hear the term "eternal death" very often, but the term eternal life I hear all the time. Here is the definition of eternal from Oxford:
e·ter·nal
/əˈtərn(ə)l/
adjective
lasting or existing forever; without end or beginning.
Now I only know of one being that is without end or beginning and that is the Father. I'm almost positive you agree with that.
I'm not chiding you, just showing you why I don't subscribe to those terms.
On the flip side, you have shown me your definition of "eternal death" and if you continue to use the term, I will at least know what you mean. I can appreciate that.
I can agree with this, however I believe that everyone will be living.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 12:28 amBy destroy death I mean , the living will no longer be subject to (adamic)* death. Nobody living will ever have to die.

Re: Does Hell Exist?
Post #227Yes I agree, thats why (if there is a conflict between a secular definition and the biblical use) I favor definitions from the bible (or at the very least a biblical concordance) rather than a dictionary.EBA wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 12:49 am]Now I only know of one being that is without end or beginning and that is the Father. Post #228How do you understand John 3:16? Especially the word "perish" and "everlasting life".
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.(NKJV)

Re: Does Hell Exist?
Post #229Sorry for that late response, I’ve been on vacation.
We just read that everyone will believe in due time:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (Phillipians 2:10)
However John 3:16 is letting us know there is something special for believers and here it is:
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Rev 20:6)
That is “everlasting” life.
Now, what is it you must believe in order to obtain the first resurrection and how do you come by that belief?
Peace.

Post #230Because aionios is not an English word; you won't find the word "eternal" in the Greek manuscripts.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 1:24 am

So, is this what you believe “eternal” means?:
