The question for debate is does hell exist? If so, what does the Bible teach hell is?

Gehenna I mean. And do you believe it's real?
That depends on what you mean by the word "real".

I mean real lake of fire that could burn things.
I dont know what you mean by "real". Sorry.

Yes, I mean the Gehenna is real, that will destroy death and hades.
Total destruction is real. The literal place was'just used by Jesus as a symbol of total destruction. Something can be real but not literal.
The title of the thread is, "Does Hell Exist"? Is you answer yes then?
That depends in what you mean by hell. And what you mean by exist.
Gehenna I mean. And do you believe it's real?
Didn't you realize that "hell" is actually the grave, and "Gehenna" is a metaphor for complete destruction? So "hell" exists for all mankind, those that go to their grave. A fiery hell does not exist.

Death is a miracle. A state that God causes, it doesn’t just happen because you are alive. And you are held in that state until the appointed time in which you are to come forth and be judged and be resurrected.
JehovahsWitness wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:39 pm Dis Jesus not say God is a God of the living, not of the dead?
Yes.
Would you care to explain why he said that when Abraham, Jacob and Isaac were at that time dead?

JehovahsWitness wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:39 pm Is death not called "The last enemy"?
Yes. And once it is abolished no one will be dead.
JehovahsWitness wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:39 pm How can death be refered to as a miracle from God. Je it not rather a course from our first parents? (Ses Romans 5:12)
Did this curse appear out of nowhere?

Not only did God create death he will also destroy it.

All of God’s creation is a miracle including death and the abolishing of death.

Psa 139:8
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell (sheol), behold, thou art there.

Peace.

Blue, bold and undeline emphases mine.

What does it matter when Jesus said that, does God change?
JAMES 1:17 - ERV

Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.
EBA wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:06 pm Did this curse appear out of nowhere?
No it appeared due to the disobedience of Adam ; is God a God of the disobedient? (Romans 5:12)

Why would God destroy something he created ; unless he made something bad or useless ? Does God make bad useless things?
JAMES 1:17 - JUB

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights

That’s an interesting two-part question.

Are you suggesting that who, what, where, when, and why Jesus says something doesn’t matter? Or is it just “when” he said it that doesn’t matter?

And no, God does not change.

God didn’t create death?
And are you trying to say God is not the God of Adam? Is that what you would have us believe?

You say he does.

Neither: I am suggesting that the reason for making truthful statements about God's fundamental nature, do not change the nature itself.

Is there a part of "No" you are having trouble understanding?

EBA wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:06 pmGod didn’t create death?
No, God created life; death is simply the absence of life.

EBA wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:06 pmAnd are you trying to say God is not the God of Adam?
Correct: BY his (Adam's) rebellion he proved he had another god.

PHILIPPIANS 3:18, 19

...there are many—I used to mention them often but now I mention them also with weeping—who are walking as enemies of the torture stake of the Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, and their god is their belly, and their glory is really their shame, and they have their minds on earthly things
EBA wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 3:06 pm]You say he does
That is an untrue statement.

I understand what “no” means.

What I don’t get is why when I asked “So it appeared out of nowhere?”

You replied
:
JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 5:06 pm“No it appeared due to the disobedience of Adam”
Now we don’t need to be scholars to understand that “out of” and “due to” are not the same thing.

But then you had to get snarky and say something like this:
JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 5:06 pmIs there a part of "No" you are having trouble understanding?
I think the misunderstanding was on your part.

I will give you credit though you went on to explian that:

JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 5:06 pm-God created life; death is simply the absence of life.
Ok, so did death exist before the creation of man or is it a just a byproduct of life?
EBA wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:06 pmAnd are you trying to say God is not the God of Adam?
JehovahsWitness wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2024 5:06 pmCorrect: BY his (Adam's) rebellion he proved he had another god.
What it proved was Adam’s disobedience.

God certainly is the God of Adam.

Sounds to me like your first question answered your second.

So tell me, do you think God is going to destroy death in the lake of fire?
What about hades; will he destroy that?
What about people?

Peace.

For an exercise in understanding, go burn a piece of paper. After it has been burned completely, try to get your piece of paper back.

This is what I mean of a real fire that will devour and turn someone to ashes.
Ezekiel 28:18
"You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.(NKJV)
