Why do you think Jews reject the teachings of the church?
If you could pick one passage to convince them to believe Jesus is their anointed one (messiah) what would it be?
Christians: why do you think Jews don’t accept the Christian Testament?

Re: Christians: why do you think Jews don’t accept the Christian Testament?
Post #31Pride? If I really believe that I have found the truth, wouldn't I witness to others that I have found it? There is no pride involved. Jehovah's Witnesses believe so strongly that Jehovah is God and Jesus is His only begotten Son (not God) and that the earth remains forever and the righteous will inherit the earth and live forever on it that we would be remiss if we did not tell people that we have found the truth of those matters.Clownboat wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 9:57 amObviously you understand that you are not unique to have a religious belief or to be sure of it. This is extremely common.onewithhim wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 9:36 am I believe in what the Bible says, and I have compared it with what my religious leaders have said.
They are spot on.
Something about pride and falls come to mind.
Be careful not to make an idol out of your own interpretation of it. You may end up clinging to it as if it was yourself, thus putting your own view in opposition to the wider principles of love and acceptance that Jesus taught. Such folks will fight among themselves because what they are really doing is self promotion, each of them seeking to claim to speak for God.It is clear, for instance, that there is no Trinity, and neither is there a fiery hell. Jesus is a god (an individual of high importance and power), even the Son of God who created the universe with his Father's power that was given to him. It's clear that homosexuality is not acceptable to God. Christendom's religious leaders have not taught their flocks the simple truths found in the Bible that's right under their noses. Why? For their own gain, financially and politically. They are part of the world, as Jesus was not. (James 4:4)
It's also not logical that an all powerful God would write a message for everyone, but then require pastors, priest and theologians to then interpret the said message. It doesn't make any sense to me that the Being whose power created the universe would not be knowable to His creations.
If you created people, wouldn't you want them to know you?
Likely, but I'm just a human, not some all powerful god concept that can create entire universes with words. How could I pretend to understand such a being? Surely not by pretending it would have the wants as a human.
He has inspired a book that tells us about Him and about His Son.
This claim is not logical for the reasoning above. You of course are free to believe what you choose via faith.
Like I said: "Such folks will fight among themselves because what they are really doing is self promotion, each of them seeking to claim to speak for God."It is not taught by 99.9% of the clergy of Christendom. But Jehovah's Witnesses do follow all of the Bible, not just parts of it.
"He who begins by loving Christianity more than Truth, will proceed by loving his sect or church better than Christianity, and end in loving himself better than all."
- Samuel Taylor Coleridge
It simply remains for others to figure out which religion is teaching the truth. It's not hard when you analyze what Jesus actually said---all of it, not just cherry-picked verses.

Post #32Yes pride. We have billions of humans on this planet worshiping other god concepts that feel just like you. Of course there is pride involved to believe you have the gods all figured out.onewithhim wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 9:44 am Pride? Like I already quoted and you didn't respond to other than showing my words to be correct: "He who begins by loving Christianity more than Truth, will proceed by loving his sect or church better than Christianity, and end in loving himself better than all."There is no pride involved. Re: Christians: why do you think Jews don’t accept the Christian Testament?
Post #33Don't confuse confidence with pride. I am confident that I have found the right people who worship God correctly. Pride is not even a factor in my heart. Joy is though. If I was prideful I wouldn't want to share what I have found. I'd want to keep it to myself so that no one else would know what I know and could be viewed as more pious than others. Yet I want the exact opposite. I want people to know that God has taken a lowly person such as me, shown me mercy and shown me the way to life.Clownboat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 12:19 pmYes pride. But is that what we see from other religions? Mormons and Catholics both hide more than they share. Meanwhile, just about everything Jehovah's Witnesses have published since 1950 is free to view online. In other religions only a few or even one is an ordained minister in a congregation. Those people are only the ones that are allow to preach and teach. In the Jehovah's Witness religion, every person baptized in an ordained minister and even those that are not baptized are encouraged to preach and teach. If one does because prideful or arrogant and stays that way, they don't stay JWs long because when they are corrected, the leave the religion. If there is practicing JW that says they have never been corrected, I'll show you a liar. A person can't be haughty and stay close to Jehovah God. Psalms 138:6 says, "Though the Lord is exalted, He takes note of the humble; but He knows the haughty from afar."

This is exactly what seems to be going on here and no amount of pride, even if a person is so prideful as to call their pride 'confidence', changes what is going on. Don't believe me? Just interchange Jehovah's Witnesses with Muslim, Jehovah with Allah, minister with Imam see how the above reads.
2timothy316 - If only you had been born in Iran. You would make a great Muslim. You might not notice it, but I trust our readers do.

Well technically Jesus is the way the truth and the life and is God and you deny that. You also practice works not grace through faith.
I don't know if you guys will make it to heaven because denial of Jesus as God is committing the unforgivable sin and blaspheming the holy spirit.
I do think arrogance and pride are at the root of denying Jesus is God because humans hate the fact we are not equal God and only God can save us.

Post #37Jesus never said that we have to believe he is Almighty God. Jehovah said it best, "“You are my Son.”—Luke 3:22. Not you are God. But I know you must follow the narrative of your teachings and can't handle even considering anything else.Wootah wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 7:42 pm [Replying to 2timothy316 in post #35]

What do you think grace is?
I will not go to heaven, because that is not what I want nor called to be. "But the meek will possess the earth." Ps 37:11. This is what I want for my reward.I don't know if you guys will make it to heaven because denial of Jesus as God is committing the unforgivable sin and blaspheming the holy spirit.
You can think whatever you want. I am under no delusion that I am equal to a single cell of Jesus' perfect body. A body that he gave so that I might live. He doesn't have to be almighty God to do that. But by your belief, God can die...or Jesus didn't die...if so, then we are doomed because no one actually died for our sins.I do think arrogance and pride are at the root of denying Jesus is God because humans hate the fact we are not equal God and only God can save us.![]()

No Jehovah's Witness will deny that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. That is simply untrue. It would be misleading to link the above with a belief Jesus is Almighty God as if the two are inseparable. Punctuation is your friend.
You are not in a position to judge what motivates Tim or anyone to obey Gods commands to be "rich in fine WORKS".
Yes, you do not know. Perhaps you should share what you DO know rather than with what you do not.

Post #39We do not deny Jesus is God, we hold the bible which presents Jesus as NOT being equal in power, position and age to Almighty God YHWH (Jehovah) the Father.
You might like to put implied ad hominem aside in favor of using your bible to prove otherwise.

Tell us again just how great your sect of Christianity is... I missed it the first few times around. J/K, I noticed it and it will be up to the readers to decide if you are just promoting the sect of the religion you prefer, which is the norm we see here.
