Apparently over 70 people in one go.
This is according to Exodus chapter 24, verses 9 - 12.
So is this clear, that those elders along with Moses actually saw the face of God and even ate and drank in His presence?
I had thought only Moses got that close to God who took great precautions earlier about this.

Post #31Again, what do you think that God looks like, or at least tell me how big such an image would be for man to be able to recognize or perceive him?Miles wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:21 amIf you believe JWs stretch of imagination actually deserves a "but" then I can only wonder what you think a "valid point" is.DB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:23 am [Replying to Miles in post #3]
You have a valid point, but as @jehovahswitness said, it could only plausibly be a vision. i.e. what does God look like, how big are his hands, how big are his feet that held him up on the sapphire surface? What colour is His hair, and how tall would one expect the transcendent Creator of the universe to be? Does He look Semitic, Caucasian, Mongolian, does He have to comb His hair or brush His teeth, ...?

Post #32As an atheist I lack any belief that god exists; however, from what I've read about the God of Abraham my guess is that he would likely look like:DB wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 12:57 amAgain, what do you think that God looks like, or at least tell me how big such an image would be for man to be able to recognize or perceive him?Miles wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:21 amIf you believe JWs stretch of imagination actually deserves a "but" then I can only wonder what you think a "valid point" is.DB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:23 am [Replying to Miles in post #3]

A loathsome being crying out to be worshiped and praised. 1 Chronicles 16:29....... Give the Lord praise worthy of his glory. Come into his presence with your offerings. Worship the Lord in all his holy beauty.

Re: Who has seen God?
Post #33It is an interesting topic.
IF there is a creator of this universe, and the being has form, THEN what would the face of this creator look like, that humans would die in the looking?
What would cause this dying? The heart malfunctioning because of fear?

The Bible is very clear. NO ONE has seen God at any time. He is too magnificent for men to lay eyes on.
"No man has seen God at any time..." (John 1:18)
"...You cannot see my face, for no man can see me and live." (Exodus 33:20)

Post #35They couldn't have saw God, otherwise, that would contradict John 1:18.Rose2020 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 11:52 am Apparently over 70 people in one go.

What they saw was God who had manifested himself through veils...usually fleshly veils...where you are not seeing God in his full glory but a "mask", sort to speak.

Re: Who has seen God?
One must remember that of the several million Israelites that even the great prophet Moses was able to find such a very limited precious few who would prepare themselves for this powerful experience of beholding the Lord GOD of Israel.
This sacred experience is reserved to those who overcome the world, who become pure in heart and exercised mighty faith.
Indeed as the scriptures declare "The pure in heart shall see God."
If one is filled with doubt, filled with unbelief, lacks great faith and has not yet become pure in heart, then one is clearly not prepared to see God.
I guess you might well consider personal self introspection to see where you are or are not prepared for such a manifestation from God.
So according to your JW doctrine no one will ever be able to see God, even in his own kingdom.
Kind regards,
RW

Post #38If by "in his own kingdom" you are refering to the humans on earth, then the bible is quite clear.Revelations won wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 11:08 am

EXODUS 33:20
".... no man can see me and live."
If by "in his own kingdom" you are referring to the spirits that live with him in heaven, that is not what the bible indicates at all
MATTHEW 18:10 - New International Version
“...I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven

Of course I cannot prove it to you on here,
you would have to be with me during the day.
