This is probably stupid.

Hey, as the title suggests I have no faith this will go ahead but wanted to voice the opinion anyway.

I think it would be great if we had a 'like button' attached to all posts, it would work similar to how the Facebook 'like' system works. If anyone likes a post or values it they can appreciate it in a more simple manner rather than a personal message every time JoeyK (or others) write a post. It could be anonymous or have the username attached, I just think it would be a great system for showing members how valuable some of their posts and opinions are.

Hoping for a response. Sincerely,

The Filthiest of Tugboats.
Religion feels to me a little like a Nigerian Prince scam. The "offer" is illegitimate, the "request" is unreasonable and the source is dubious, in fact, Nigeria doesn't even have a royal family.

Let's find out, I am going to "like" you, I mean your post, and see if it comes out anywhere.

It looks like it just counts the likes here when you look at the post and doesn't send any information anywhere to face-book such as share.

That's great, I wouldn't have used it if it sent the info to my Fb, honestly.
I hear this. :P
Yeah me either -- you wanna talk about relatives being upset and me being bombarded with 50 questions... yeah... not fun.

However I do think that since it has the facebook logo on it, that it could possibly be confused with being linked to facebook.

Perhaps there is a generic like system we could use instead? :/

Something like this? Image

Maybe a emoticon for every valuing word understood in all languages.
Why not one for every possible word and meaning?

It'd probably require me to program it from scratch, unless someone can find a mod for this. The closest I can find is here, but it's got several issues:
- It's in development mode
- Can only like a thread, not a single post
- It's for PHPBB 3, not 2

I just went to hit the like button on one of your moderator comments, and it prompted me to log into Facebook; I didn't notice this before because I was already logged into Facebook. I don't want messages being sent to all my friends of which posts I like. #-o

Or does that mean that I can't like unless I'm logged into facebook -- but it still won't show up on my friends' home pages?

I didn't notice it before either. You're right, I logged out of FB and it asked me to login when I clicked on a Like button.

I don't see where it's showing up on my profile or notifying anybody else about it.

I'd personally rather have a self-contained like system also. But, this is really going to take a lot of programming.

Well, then I guess I won't be using it. I deleted my Facebook account a year ago and I won't be signing up again.
Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

Seems like the Facebook Like is causing display issues for some people as well. I'm going to be disabling it to see if it fixes things.

Wow, my idea appears to be causing problems.... Sorry 'bout that.
