Hey, as the title suggests I have no faith this will go ahead but wanted to voice the opinion anyway.
I think it would be great if we had a 'like button' attached to all posts, it would work similar to how the Facebook 'like' system works. If anyone likes a post or values it they can appreciate it in a more simple manner rather than a personal message every time JoeyK (or others) write a post. It could be anonymous or have the username attached, I just think it would be a great system for showing members how valuable some of their posts and opinions are.
Hoping for a response. Sincerely,
The Filthiest of Tugboats.
This is probably stupid.

Post #1Religion feels to me a little like a Nigerian Prince scam. The "offer" is illegitimate, the "request" is unreasonable and the source is dubious, in fact, Nigeria doesn't even have a royal family.

It's similar but I don't think as many posts are recognised as would be with the 'like' system. I don't know, I figured it would be a simple and far less formal version of congratulating others for their efforts.AkiThePirate wrote:I always thought that this was the purpose of the token donation system.

I think I see your point.
On the subject, the forum boards.ie uses a similar system which lets users 'thank' other users' posts. Have a look around there, as I think it's more or less what you're suggesting.

Right, the MPG serves this purpose. Since we already have a system in place, most likely I will not put something else in that would basically do the same thing.AkiThePirate wrote:I always thought that this was the purpose of the token donation system.

I would think that on a Christian-themed forum, that a built-it OMG button wouldn't be a very good idea, since many Christians consider that to be an expletive, since it is flippantly tossing about the name of God. I'm not offended by it, but I cringe when I see or hear it.Baz wrote:What about an O.M.G. or fall about laughing button.

Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

I think a like system would be great, so perhaps more than 1 person could recognize a post.
Perhaps the MPG system should reward posts which have a certain number of likes?
That way you're not just getting a shiny medal just because 1 person agrees with you.
A like system would also potentially eliminate one liners like "I agree"

or status quo is fine too.
EDIT:
OOOOhhhhh and just for funzies, how about a dislike button as well?

Or how about actually having a Facebook Like button next to a post? If people are interested in this, I can try to see if I can integrate it.

The overriding principle on this forum is respect. While I don't believe in any deities, I recognize that many religions have a prohibition against making empty references to their gods. "Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain". So, out of respect, I do not refer to any gods in my speech or writing unless I actually mean to speak of those gods. For me, observing this prohibition shows my respect for their beliefs without inhibiting free expression of debate ideas. I also remove my shoes in a Mosque.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
