Noahism

It is commonly believed of Judaism (Orthodox) that it is a separate religion which places Jews above Gentiles. This, however, is NOT the case. Judaim is a beautiful religion which accepts all of mankind. Jews under 613 commandments, and Gentiles under 7 main categories of commandments.

So what is Noahism?

To be a Noachide means that a Gentile has accepted his part, his role, in God's world. A Noachide is a Gentile who recognized that Judaism (Orthodox) is the one true religion. A Noachide accepts upon himself the commandments that God has given him. A Noachide accepts the Rambam's 13 principles of faith. A Noachide is a Gentile that has decided to follow Judaism. Many people do not know of us Noachides because of the fact that Judaism itself is quite a small religion. However, Judaism does have a place for all mankind, and for Gentiles. Yes, Jews are God's chosen people, but this in no way places them above the Gentiles. In Judaism, all men are equal, and all men have a place.

Any questions?

Oh, and on the better relations between Jews and Christians, I think that the more liberal ones like you mentioned have bought into the Pallywood balderdash. As for the more fundamental Christians, I think you're right than there is a huge block of them that are thinking about the last days and all that. But I think there are also quite a few who simply have started to take another look at Judaism and its important to their own faith and think more about the similarities than the differences. Partly that's because the Christians are now under attack from the same terrorists and are realizing the same things you realize about people in your family when you are attacked from the outside - the differences don't matter as much as you thought they did. Then again, there are people like me who appreciate Israel because of all it has accomplished while fighting off constant attacks from within & without - pretty amazing.

Thanks very much, Caroline. I agree on all points.

The thread, by the way, is entitled "Debate & the meaning of Scripture." I have recently posted another entitled "Reward - Punishment in Scripture: a Jewish view" in which you might be interested. Maybe not: so far it has received no comments or replies (though I have not yet finished looking over the forum yet this morning).
