Genesis 2:24 (KJV): "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be ‘one flesh.’
Many have overlooked the failure of marriage as far as the phrase ‘one flesh’ is concerned - the failure of making the two couples ‘one flesh,’ per se!
Question: Why does the union of a man and a woman in marriage turn them into a couple instead of ‘one flesh,’ as written in the bible?

Post #12In reference to Gen 2:24, the ‘one flesh’ means the product of the union of two flesh from the couple bound by marriage, no other else but the union of an egg cell (from the woman) and a sperm cell (from the man) out of ‘coitus’ - the OFFSPRING.Wootah wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2026 5:21 pm [Replying to OneJack in post #10]

Re: The Failure Of Marriage In ‘One Flesh’ Issue
Post #13Where does the text say that one flesh refers to the offspring? I mean you can argue therefore the text is wrong but you have to establish from the text that it means the child.OneJack wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2026 8:52 pmIn reference to Gen 2:24, the ‘one flesh’ means the product of the union of two flesh from the couple bound by marriage, no other else but the union of an egg cell (from the woman) and a sperm cell (from the man) out of ‘coitus’ - the OFFSPRING.Wootah wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2026 5:21 pm [Replying to OneJack in post #10]

I am fairly persuaded that at all scales of human relationship the more we work together the more we become one.
I am not very interested in this thread at this stage because I'm not really seeing any deeper issue behind it. So I might tap out soon and not reply further.

Post #14The phrase 'the more we work together, the more we become one' is different from 'and the man shall leave his parents and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.' The only vivid phrase in the text is the phrase 'one flesh,' which, out of coitus, is no other but the offspring. You can't mention any other that becomes one flesh in marriage, except the offspring, can you?Wootah wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2026 7:06 pmWhere does the text say that one flesh refers to the offspring? The couple, OneJack, the couple. Lol.
What's your issue theologically with the definition relating to the marriage?
