The Son of God

Post by Ross »

I would like to address the question of origin of the Son of God.
While it is hoped that this will not become another Trinitarian/Arian debate, it is highly likely that this may happen, so I only ask that the subject matter if possible can please remain on topic.

My question is:
Was The Word; the pre-existent Jesus, the Son of God? Was he always the Son of God? Or did he become the Son of God at some point in time, for example when he became flesh? Or when he was pre-ordained to become a man?

The possible answers open up many questions, but I would like to keep this simple for the time being.
Out of the eater came something to eat,
And out of the strong came something sweet.

Believing that Jesus Christ was the Son of God
certainly is Scriptural ... but
believing that the Word was a god
certainly is NOT Scriptural ...
because it destroys the Trinity,
which is taught throughout the NT.

Yes, Jesus is God, equal with the Father. (Phil 2:6)
Jesus had said, all that the Father has is of Jesus, no one could have said this who was not equal with the Father. The union was so intimate, though mysterious, that it might with propriety be said that whatever was done in relation to the Son, was also done in regard to the Father.

Jhn 16:15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

So Im supposed to believe someting because YOU say so? Those words are not in the bible and are NOT in any of the scripture you refer to.

I see an argument presented that Jesus himself did not teach and thats enough for me. If however you can provide a scripture where Jesus claimed to be Almighty God rather than God's son I will read that scripture. If Jesus didnt teach it, why should I dont believe it? Why do you consider that unreasonable for a bible believing Christian ?
