Jesus prediction to return

Matthew 16 , verses 24 to 28.

In verse 28 Jesus says He will return within the lifetime of that generation. But that has not happened. What do we make of this?

Just my opinion Rose:

The generation Jesus speaks of (M 24:34) is the generation of the Christian faith.
He is in closed quarters addressing the disciples about a future outcome , of what they (he and his disciples ), helped create (generated).

( creating a church ) They were the generating force of Christianity.
Jesus knew this , he is the spearhead , (the point of Christianity).

To understand the generation Jesus speaks of , is to consider the lives of all who have found faith.

This tends to plug the hole in the generation gap. ( that is the difference between the then and now )

I absolutely fail to see what this has to do with the verses I cited? It's almost as if you've posted a reply meant for some other thread. A possibility perhaps?.

I thought your purpose in citing all of those verses was to prove that Jesus claimed that those He was conversing with at that time would be alive during the signs of the second coming, and the second coming itself.

I showed that from God's perspective, every human ever born is either awake or resting in their grave awaiting their awakening. So that no one has ever truly passed away. So in that sense, every generation will be alive when all the signs and the Second Coming occur.

Indeed it is.
