Is the Jehovah Witness Religion a Christian Religion?

Post by polonius »

Do Jehovah Witnesses consider Jesus Christ to be God? If so, does it maintain that there are two divine persons? God and Jesus Christ?

Are both God and Jesus eternal and coequal?

Your question makes no sense to me and I have already explained why this is so.

I could say I have received truth (from my dear Lord). I could say I am in Truth (in my dear Lord). I could say I am walking in the Truth (in my dear Lord).

Etc.

I do not tend to go around continuously announcing these things because I am to bear witness to HIM - to point to HIM (and not to myself). It is not about me, it is about Christ. But I am not ashamed that I am one of His sheep or that I listen to His voice. I am certainly not ashamed of Him or of saying that I belong to Him, as undeserving of that as I am. But He is the Truth; I am only a servant; I belong to Him.

(I can't even recall a verse in what is written where someone said "we have the truth" or 'I have the truth". I know of verses where it is written that 'we received knowledge of the Truth' or 'walking in the truth' (in Christ), etc. I know that Christ said that HE is the Truth and I know that He is the One who has and who speaks the truth, and HE is the One who will lead His disciples into all truth. I know He said 'then you will know the truth' (referring to Himself, the Son who is the Truth and who sets us free). And many years ago, when I asked God to lead me to where He wanted me to be, when I sought and asked to know HIS truth, He directed me to His Son: Jaheshua, the Chosen One of JAH).

Peace again to you,
your servant and a slave of Christ,

How can you receive something and yet not have it? If you received truth (from the Lord) you have it! Sayjng you've received something is the equivalent of saying you have it (unless you subsequently gave it back. Or away.)

Peace to you,

I realize I said I was moving on, but I had not seen this post until afterward. It has me shaking my head because it flies in the face of what jws here on this forum (and in person) have said about Christ speaking to people today, but okay...

Well he's speaking to spirit anointed Jehovahs Witness then.
So you are agreeing then that Christ does indeed speak to people today?

Any objection?
Why would I object to someone claiming Christ speaks when I have said from the start that Christ speaks (to everyone), though not everyone listens to Him. And not everything people claim to be true is from Him. Hence, we are told to test the inspired expressions (same as I would do with someone else's teaching or interpretation).

I think the Governing Body of your religion might object though. Mr. Jackson said the following while being asked a question about what [Jesus] might say referring to the two-witness rule on sexual abuse, during the Australian Royal Commission into sexual abuse handling within the jw religion.

"I would certainly like to ask Jesus that, but I can't at the moment. I hope to do so in the future."

(Its about one hour, 49 minutes into the video)

The only difference is they are not selfish and they share what he tells them.

What do you mean 'the only difference'? The only difference between them and what/whom?
Do you have a scripture that says if Jesus speaks to someone they should keep it to themselves?
Why would you ask me this when I have never suggested such a thing to begin with?

MATTHEW 10:27

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

I have certainly never stated otherwise.

The more important question is...what did it mean to Jesus ? He's the one that refered to THE truth.
JOHN 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and THE truth will set you free.
JOHN 17:17 “I have given your word to them . . . Sanctify them by means of the truth (John 17:14, 17)
JOHN 14:6
"I am the Truth, the Way, and the Life."

Good question.

In verse 36, He clarifies who that truth is:

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

And of course:

"I am the Truth, the Way, and the Life." John 14:6

So THE truth - to you - means Christ? That is what you mean when you say "we have the truth"?

Jesus said made to Gods Word is truth so... THE TRUTH refers to the body of bible truths that center on (or are embodied in) Jesus.
JOHN 17:17 “Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth (John 17:14, 17)

I am not going to argue with you over who the Truth is - Christ said that HE is the Truth, and I believe Him (I responded to the rest in a previous post). And that is why I do not say "I have the truth". The Truth is a person. I belong to Him; He owns me (He purchased me with His own blood).

So now you also have your answer.
