Jehovah's Witnesses believe God's Kingdom for which many Christians have prayed throughout the ages to be a (heavenly) government (three words).
What, in three or four words if possible, do you believe it to be?
(Many Christians I have met have said its "A feeling" (in one's heart).

Onewithhim and JW, I have presented you with historical facts that you dismiss as "off the wall." I have presented you with Scriptures that you convolutedly explain away. I have more than answered your questions. You just don't like the answers.
You are a member of a young sect that is not considered mainstream Christianity, a religion that is 2000 years old. That's fine. You are free to believe as you like. I simply can't give serious consideration to your point of view.

JW, my daughter lives in a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, called Mount Washington. It is primarily a community of conservative Jews. They leave the lights on in the living areas of their homes before the Sabbath begins because they are not allowed to use light switches during the Sabbath. You simply do not understand Judaism.

YOU are wrong, sweetie. It has been explained to you that Jesus never broke the Mosaic Law. It was the Jewish leaders' OWN RULES that he broke occasionally, not God's rules. You are confusing the "Torah" with the "Talmud."kayky wrote:So this is the only thing you choose to respond to? Actually any kind of work was forbidden on the Sabbath. When Jesus heals the lame man on the Sabbath and tells him to pick up his cot and walk, he is ordering this man to break the Sabbath. The man is actually accosted on the street by religious leaders for carrying his cot on the sabbath.JehovahsWitness wrote:You are wrong, there is no law in the Torah that prohibits healing on the Sabbath. Jesus never broke any part of the Mosaic law.kayky wrote: Also Jesus broke Torah law by healing on the Sabbath.

Sorry, but Jehovah's Witnesses goes back to BEFORE the big apostate Roman Catholic Church got its start. We got started with Jesus and his Apostles, even before the "early church fathers" that came after the Apostles. Mainstream "Christianity" is really the out-growth AWAY FROM true Christianity, which Paul warned about at Acts 20:29,30: "I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock: and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them."kayky wrote: Onewithhim and JW, I have presented you with historical facts that you dismiss as "off the wall." This is what has been lording it over the people for 2,000 years, misleading them, even though they are the majority. Jesus said that it would be FEW that are on the road to life. Not the majority. (Matthew 7:14) It is a mistake to dismiss JWs as a "young sect that is not considered mainstream Christianity." Mainstream Christianity is on the broad road (Matt.7:13).
You have presented NO historical facts, and we have tried explaining to you why your cited scriptures don't hold up what you are trying to say. But, as they say, "you can lead a horse to water..."

It is YOU who simply don't understand Judaism. Those ridiculous laws, such as not being able to work a light switch on the Sabbath, did not originate with God and the Torah. Such rules were MEN'S rules, and they were what Jesus called BURDENS, or, "heavy loads," that the Jewish leaders placed on the shoulders of the people.kayky wrote: JW, my daughter lives in a neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland, called Mount Washington. "The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses....They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger....Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for you yourselves do not go in, neither do you permit those on their way in to go in." (Matthew 23:2,4,13)
Jesus saw clearly that the religious leaders were not shepherding the people according to GOD'S rules, but their own rules.

"Here in Anatevka, we have traditions for everything. How to sleep. How to eat. How to work. How to wear clothes. For instance, we always keep our heads covered, and always wear a little prayer shawl. This shows our constant devotion to God. You may ask, how did this tradition get started? I'll tell you. I don't know."

Something can be "simple" without revealing the person explaining that thing as bejng simple minded. If someone knows their subject well they should be able to explain it in simple easy to understand terms. I believe that most peoples seeming inability to explain what Gods kindom is in a clear easy to understand sentence is evidence they dont really know what it is at all....Divine Insight wrote:Don't you think that's a pretty simple-minded view?JehovahsWitness wrote:Interesting. Did you come to this conclusion independently of Jehovah's witnesses? The reason I ask is I have never heard anybody say the word "government" when I have asked about the Kingdom of God except a Witness. (Not saying there are no other people, just that I have personally NEVER asked a non-Witness, "What is God's Kingdom?" and they simply reply "It's a GOVERNMENT"Divine Insight wrote:Absolutely.JehovahsWitness wrote: [Replying to post 5 by Divine Insight]
So you too, like Jehovah's Witnesses believe that God's kingdom is refering to a government? Interesting, that's rare, most people think its speaking about "a feeling in one's heart".
Thanks for your input, have an excellent weekend,
JW

God's Kingdom is a government over the earth. It's not the earth, though the "courtyard" of the Kingdom is considered the earth.
I don't see the objection to God's Kingdom being a government; I don't understand the objection.

What do YOU think about what Jesus said?McCulloch wrote:Does it really matter what I think? Isn't it more relevant to try to know what Jesus thought?JehovahsWitness wrote:Ok, so what do you think the kingdom is?
After reading what he said, what comes to your mind when you hear the words "God's Kingdom"?

Yes, they heard Jesus tell them they would sit on thrones in heaven and "judge the 12 tribes of Israel." John later wrote about the thief that was beside Jesus on the "crosses," that he said to Jesus, "Remember me when you get into your Kingdom." This thief obviously didn't think the Kingdom was something in somebody's heart. He seems to think it was some kind of situation in which Jesus was ruling. That's what it seems to me that the thief AND John thought.McCulloch wrote:You are an astute logician. I do not know. I don't pretend to know what I don't know. I'm comfortable with not knowing this. I don't believe in God or Jesus. But I do know some parameters that exclude some answers as being wrong.JehovahsWitness wrote:Do you know you have not actually answered the question I asked?

I can only conclude you don't know what it is.
Do you know what the kingdom meant to the writers of the Gospels?
