In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Anyone want to explain how Jesus isn't God based upon this passage verse 6 in particular?

Au contraire... Jesus invited worship of both the Father and Himself throughout His ministry.2timothy316 wrote: If a person is worshiping Jesus as a God than they are in violation of one the most important laws.
Jesus is indeed a stumbling block and a rock of offense to some; perhaps, Lord willing, it will not always be so. But it was indeed Jesus who said:
- “Go and report... what you hear and see: the blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me. (Matthew 11:4-6)
- "Say to those with anxious heart, take courage, fear not. Behold, your God will come with vengeance; the recompense of God will come, but He will save you.
And:
- "You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit..." (John 15:16)
Ah, the Gospel. It is a glorious thing.
Grace and peace to all.

I realized I may be misunderstood. I worship none but YHVH, God. I follow Yeshua's way but do not worship him. "Good, why do you call me Good? None are good but YHVH."

Well, that's too bad. You should.brianbbs67 wrote: I follow Yeshua's way but do not worship him.

You think Jesus was declaring Himself to be not good here? Surely not; that's most assuredly not what He was doing.brianbbs67 wrote: "Good, why do you call me Good? None are good but YHVH."
Aside for that, though, this is yet another place were Jesus was claiming to be God in the flesh -- He was telling the man He was (is) God. And this happens many times all over the world every day: people acknowledge God and don't even realize it. That's exactly what the man was doing, and exactly what Jesus was telling him.

Wait a minute, I worship and revere YHVH. If they are the same, how have I erred?PinSeeker wrote:Well, that's too bad. You should.brianbbs67 wrote: I follow Yeshua's way but do not worship him.

You forgot
“I am thirsty. — John 19:28
I am distressed - Luke 12:50
The verb to be is one of the most common verbs in any language, it is absolutely ludicrous to conclude every time Jesus used that verb regardless of the context he was declaring himself equal to Almighty God YHWH, The Father.

That actually proves nothing as to Jesus being God. Read John 1:1 in the Koine and respect their grammar and you will find the Word is a god. Which goes back to Jesus' quote " do you not know , it is written ye are gods?" The rest of John's verse makes more sense. Through the Word all things are created.PinSeeker wrote: [Replying to post 72 by JehovahsWitness]

To both of you, context is key. But some pointedly ignore such things...

Proof is not reached by declaration. An affirmation that somebody is certain of something doesn't constitute proof, however assured be the declarer.
Jesus, as we know, loved figurative speech, so why would we accept that he is speaking figuratively on most occasions when he talks about himself as shepherd, way, light, truth... and on this occasion, where it seems certain he is again using figurative language, we take an extraordinary meaning from his words?
It is not hard to interpret the words figuratively, and retain God the Father in his monotheistic setting.
Jesus said "I am the Truth."
He says I was there before Abraham.
Why? Because Truth existed before Abraham did.
This is a simple and intelligent interpretation. It is unfortunate that others prefer an absurdity.
