What proves Jesus is the Messiah? Did he fulfill prophecies

Post by Avoice »

What proof can anyone give that Jesus is the Messiah? Did he fulfull prophecies? If so, what orophecy and how did he fulfill it? Riding into into Jeusalem on an ass proves nothing. Many rode into Jerusalem on an ass. I too could ride in to Jerusalem on an ass. What else ya' got?

Needless to say any evidence MUST be supported by the Hebrew Scriptures

Which Tanakh are you using? I have Stone's Artscroll and the Jps. Both use He, not they.

“for the transgressions of my people [the gentile nations] they [the Jews]were stricken.

The servant is spoken of in the third person, plural לָמוֹ (lamo)

This shows it is not about an individual person.

The church had to change THEY to HE.

I have sympathy with Jewish claims, while of course not accepting the poetry behind them as literal truth or prediction. However, if Jesus is to lose his title for a grammatical irregularity, it seems rather insufficient.

In today's non-binary world apparently "he" and "she" are to be replaced by "they". So perhaps the verse displays awareness of this modern tweak in grammatical usage.

Please don't surrender to PC, Marco. Though Leftists play games with the language, they will never succeed in redefining reality. There is still hope.

But it is not just the grammatical irregularity that disqualifies Jesus from Messiahship. Ask any Jew.

For one thing, Jesus did not usher in the Messianic age, as the Messiah was supposed to have done. And just where is it written that he Messiah would need two advents to get the job done, with a gap of at least two thousand years between?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

There is zero chance of that happening, my friend.

I accept that Christ was neither God nor Messiah, but if we are to assert this I feel we needn't bring syntax into the situation. If we can slay gods with a comma, we are indeed powerful beings ourselves.

Are you claiming that all Leftist do this?

What is your definition of a Leftist?

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.
