What is the church Christ founded?

Post by marco »

From Matthew 16 we have:

17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Discussion has taken place over what Christ meant here. It seems clear enough he was using a pun on Peter's name, a rock, when he was founding his earthly church on Peter's shoulders.

That would give authority to the RC Church which takes Peter as the first Pope.

However it is argued that Jesus meant that HE was the rock and he was founding his Church on himself, as rock. As the words stand, that seems a spurious interpretation.

So what do the words mean?

Yes this is true.
  • Body of Christ = All spirit anointed born again Christians = Christ's Bride = 144, 000 co-rulers members of Messianic Kingdom = Heavenly Government
They are all different ways of referring to the same group.

False.

Our LOVE and loyalty for the kingdom are feelings in the hearts of believers but no, God's kingdom is a government not a feeling and it's no more with in me than the American congress is within me.

Is President Trump and his entire government within you?

Duty of each one of 7Billion people of the world is upgrading themselves and grow up to be cleared and be soldier of God for day the Saviour returns back and be among his army side the 313 helpers including
  • Prophets: Joshua, Daniel, Elijah, John the Baptist, Jesus peace be upon them all
    Plus Khezr, the 7 sleepers...
for avenge enemies of God.

Therefore the question:
The kingdom of God it's within you.
It depends on ourselves

Hi everyone..

Last night i researched about branches of Christians and found Jehovah's Witnesses are the more true followers of Jesus Christ peace be upon him
Because of these concepts:
  • 1. Believing against divinity of Prophet Jesus[pbuh]
    2. Believing in Bada' but they misunderstood correct meaning of Bada'

    3. Believing against joining political acts

And I found true belief in Catholicism about Purgatory truer than JW.
I wanna invite you to debate about these 3 important concepts
And realize the Truth.

Debating about Bada' exists in the Topic of Bada' here:
viewtopic.php?t=35216

And Purgatory here:
viewtopic.php?t=35467

I await for if i thought wrong, you make me awake.
thanks specially to you dear JWs that i enjoyed when last night read your beliefs

I invite you to these 2 link specially Bada'
Then i open your mind to understand easily!
You JWs and doubter Shi'ahs and Shi'ahs, and others
Otherwise i don't have motivation/mood for make youtube clips for that else if you debate with me ;)
I assume your beliefs are the better! Well, be soldier of God and convert me. By your own reasonings also tell me my wrong beliefs and why..>> :study:

Hey, Yusef, we've strayed greatly from the original topic of this thread, but your post (along with your name, plus the fact that you say "peace be upon him") would seem to indicate you are a Muslim; are you? Because Muslims, like Jehovah's Witnesses, believe wrongly that Jesus was a mere prophet and not God or part of a triune Godhead. In that case, it makes perfect sense that you would say JWs are "more true followers of Jesus Christ."

Grace and peace to you.

That's her observant of you. What do you think is the church Jesus founded? (We have rules here about derailling a thread so maybe it's best I don't make a comment on that)

I have to agree that this is not on topic and your comment is a misleading false dichotomy. The fact is there is another option between dismissing Jesus as a mere Prophet and accepting the trinity, namely that Jesus is the Son of God, who existed at God's right hand before anything else was created, "The Masterworker" of said creation and the Savior of mankind. The trinity is a God dishonoring lie devised to dupe the scripturally uninstructed, totally foreign to scriptural tradition.

Having cleared that up I feel confident if you want to respond you will do so in another thread, more appropriate to the OP.

Now... let us return to the topic at hand

.... My view is that the church Christ founded was that of a body of spirit anointed believers that would accept him (Christ) as the promised Messiah. The word "church" originally didn't refer to the building but rather to the PEOPLE that hold to a particular faith.

Regards,

JW
