Seeking Love Ahead of Faith

I just read 1 Corinthians 13. It's a passage all about love. And it ends with a very interesting saying from Paul.

1 Corinthians 13:13
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

-----

What do you make of this? Should one seek love above all else, even faith? I don't mean to quote out of context, and Chapter 13 is a very short chapter so feel free to read it in its entirety if you like. My question posed is a radical one to me as I have often considered without question that faith is of utmost importance over all.

Speaking as a non-believer who in the past was "sort-of" a Christian I would say that love is the greatest thing (period) in the Christian scheme of things (after all God Himself is essentially Love in the fellowship of the trinity).

That said, faith is just as necessary as love.

Kind of a package deal, ya know?

Faith, to me, seems much more 'do this or else' while love seems to be a lot more explanatory.
In other words, faith is commanded, at least initially, while love seems to be more garnered.
Also, with faith can come from love, but I don't see love coming from faith much.

But many of your would disagree as that's the thing to do.

Love is the basis for everything, even faith. Without love, we are a resounding gong, and our works mean little because we are self motivated. When we love others, we usually act in a way that enhances our faith in Christ.
