Tennessee Senators Wade into Roe.

Post by jcrawford »

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The state Senate on Thursday passed a proposal to amend the Tennessee Constitution so that it doesn't guarantee a woman's right to an abortion.

Looks like the fight is going back to the states.

I wonder whether secular Spitzer, Silver and Green still want to fight for Jewish abortion rights in NYS.

I personally do not think that any successful politician would publicly link any rights only to specific religious groups. They might fight for abortion rights in NYS but it would be political suicide to fight for Jewish (or Anglican etc) abortion rights.

Nope. Unless the Supreme Court overturns RvW, which they might, the US Constitution trumps the state constitutions.

Best to concentrate on the South Dakota law. (I've noticed that you have nothing to say about it.)

If Spitzer and Green don't want to fight for the secular right of atheists and reformed Jews to perform unwanted abortions on Roman Catholic women in NYS, without their fully informed consent, then they may not be too successful in running against Catholic politicians like Suozzi, Faso and Cuomo.

Wow jcrawford looks like you have a hard choice in the upcoming elections since you have stated before that you are a protestant your choices seem to be either a couple of jews or a couple of papists. Kinda reminds me of the JFK presidential election. Which are you more concerned about, the jews or the notion that the catholics will follow papal writ unquestioningly?

I'm more concerned about secular Jews like Spitzer, Silver, Schuman, Green and Bloomberg supporting abortion rights for secular Jewish doctors to abort Roman Catholic women without the expressed religious consent from the Roman Catholic parents or the Roman Catholic Community. I don't know of any Roman Catholics operating abortion camps, do you?

How do you think Roman Catholic women feel about your views on who controls their reproductive functions?

Depends how Roman Catholics in general feel about atheistic and feminist doctors controlling and keeping the Roman Catholic population down.

Why would a Roman Catholic woman religiously consent to go to a Jewish abortionist or vice versa, if they were fully informed of their rights?

How can a person be both secular and a jew at the same time? Kinda sad for a while there I was hoping you weren't something so pathetic as an antisemite.
Abortion camps? what country do you live in? Is this a place where women are made to be pregnant over and over again so they can be aborted repeatedly? I know of no such places and I'm pretty sure no such place actually exists except in your mind. But if you have a link to a report of such a place please do supply one.
Finally it seems as if your objections are not to abortions in their own right but in who is performing them and on whom. In your world abortions are okay as long as they are performed by someone of the same religion. Sounds a lot like segregation, you might have heard about the civil rights activities that fought and mostly won against such policies. As you yourself have stated before jcrawford we all have to live together, why are you trying to separate everyone based on religion?

Maybe because there were no Roman Catholic abortionists available, they have all been excommunicated by the Pope. Maybe because she trusts the medical skill of the professional and that is more important to her than the doctor's religious affiliation. Maybe because her religion is no longer important to her (hence seeking an abortion) and she no longer believes that religious affiliation confers medical or ethical merit.
No, the real question is, why would you wish to interfere with her decision?
