describing the House of Israel (all people born under Jacob who was renamed Israel) as silver, brass and tin, iron and lead... "as they gather, silver and brass and iron and lead and tin into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in Mine anger and in My fury, and I will cast you in and I will melt you. 21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you with the fire of My wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof. 22as silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the Lord have poured out my fury upon you."
Do you think that Hitler felt called to do this? I want to believe that he was crazy and thought he was being called to do this, but was gravely mistaken. Sorry for the creepy topic, but wanted to ask after reading these passages just now. Thanks!
Was Hitler misreading Ezekiel 20-23?

Was Hitler misreading Ezekiel 20-23?
Post #1Let those who have ears hear, those discerning ones will see the truth, not what the world wants them to see as "truth." Let your biases go so you can truly hear the word of God...

If I am reading correctly, you are asserting the possibility that Hitler read the biblical passage and potentially misinterpreted it into a belief that he should murder the House of Israel through furnaces.
I do not think this was the case. Hitler had a lot of inspirations for his atrocious inhumane policies. The biggest was just plain racism against the Jewish people and a need for scapegoats. It certainly was not confined to just those with Jewish ancestry. Remember, he also caused the deaths of many homosexuals and people who did not share his ideology. There is no evidence that the Nazi's methods of mass-murder through gas chambers and cremation of the bodies was done for any reasons other than efficiency. Also, Hitler was not a shy guy, so it's likely that he would have pointed at this as biblical evidence for his actions. If he did so, I am not aware of it, but I am admittedly lacking in a direct study of his writing and speeches.
