Christianity teaches that Christ will literally return to earth in the clouds one day.
Do you believe this doctrine is true or do you believe it is a false doctrine?
Is Jesus coming again or is He already here ?
I take the stand that the doctrine is false and Christians are believing in some religious fairy tale.
The reason I make this claim is because the doctrine makes no sense if you take it literally.
The Jesus of the bible told His disciples He would be with them always till the end of the world and never leave or forsake them.
Mat 28:20 .................... lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
Hbr 13:5 ................ for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Did He lie and leave them after all or are Christians not disciples?
Logically, If you have a friend who never leaves you or forsakes you in reality but is with you always then you have no reason to be waiting for them to return since they never left in the first place. Therefore it is illogical to be waiting for some second return of Jesus, if Jesus is indeed with you always, is it not? It is sheer stupidity to be waiting for someone to return if that person is always with you and never left you in the first place.
It appears that most Christians have been separated from their omnipresent invisible God. Most of them think Jesus is God and obviously their Jesus is not on this earth since they are waiting for Him to return. Therefore He can't be with them. If He was, they would not be waiting for Him to return.
Second Coming Doctrine ?

There are many comings of the Lord but no where is there any mention in the Bible with a "second Coming" or rapture. These are non scriptural terms.Misty wrote:I think the second coming dogma is rather silly and not in the least bit credible. I reckon in 2000 years time some will still be declaring "THE END IS NIGH!"

You are right. Christians love hanging on to their religious fiction in the same way people hold on the fiction of Santa Claus and hand it down from generation to generation. It's a tradition which is never broken. Religions hate to break their traditions and admit their doctrines are false.

I totally agree they are non scriptural terms. No place does the bible mention a "second" coming at all.Benoni wrote: There are many comings of the Lord but no where is there any mention in the Bible with a "second Coming" or rapture. These are non scriptural terms.
Do you have a more logical explanation for the scriptures where Jesus talks about coming again?

This is a hugh and deep awesome subject and one of the best places to look is the following Web page.
There is no such thing as an end; just a new beginning in Christ.

Are you serious? Do you really expect anyone to plow through 47 sermons? If I wanted to do that, I would not have bothered joining a discussion group.Benoni wrote:This is a hugh and deep awesome subject and one of the best places to look is the following Web page.

The idea with discussion groups is to discuss what you personally think, not to be led to a bunch of online sermons where we can't even talk to the author to question him about his doctrines.
If you think there is no such thing as an end, then what do you suppose scripture is talking about when it talks about the end of all things ?
1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
If you have a new beginning you also have an end to the old do you not? The beginning and end are always NOW.
Now is always the beginning of tomorrow and the end of yesterday at the same time.
Using that logic I could say there is never a beginning and never an end but the only thing that exists is the eternal NOW which is always the same in spite of the fact that it is ever changing in its cycle of life, living and dying at the same time.

Post #8It surely does.Skyangel wrote: Christianity teaches that Christ will literally return to earth in the clouds one day.
Acts 1:9-11 wrote: And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.
They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven."
It is clear that the writers of the New Testament expected Christ's return imminently .Skyangel wrote: Do you believe this doctrine is true or do you believe it is a false doctrine?

Post #9Yes they did and He did if you understand what the bible is saying but no religions that I am aware of, teach that He did.McCulloch wrote: It is clear that the writers of the New Testament expected Christ's return imminently .
The way I see it, Jesus returned or descended at the very same time as He ascended and He continues to ascend and descend continually at the same time and will do so for all eternity if we apply the principle of the Word being the same yesterday today and For ever and never changing.
To me that means that in a million billion years from today the bible will still be promising the coming of Christ. It is an eternal promise which never changes. It is a bit like promising tomorrow will come. It arrives daily and when it arrives it is no longer tomorrow but today.
Christians really ought to wake up to the fact instead of living in dream land waiting for the sun/son to arise. The sun never left the earth but still wakes people up daily as it rises in the east but its rising is just an illusion. It never really moves from its place. Neither does Jesus. He is always the Light of the world on this earth at all times, regardless of whether people see the light or walk in darkness or are blind and never see any light.
Re: Second Coming Doctrine ?
Post #10The majority of Christians I have known says that the “return to earth in the clouds is figurative, not literal.Skyangel wrote:Christianity teaches that Christ will literally return to earth in the clouds one day.
It is a long stretch to say that Acts 1:11 means that Jesus will physically descended from the clouds. The more common interpretation is that Jesus will return in the power and glory of God – while this could be a literal decent from the clouds, there is no need to think that it must be that way.
I know of no belief that says Jesus is on earth in human form at this time. While Christians use different words for it, most Christians believe that this world will pass away and God shall create a new heavens and a new earth free from the stain of sin.Skyangel wrote: Do you believe this doctrine is true or do you believe it is a false doctrine?

Jesus is with us through the Holy Spirit, though he is away from us in physical form. The kingdom of God has begun in this world, and we wait for its completion and the final victory over evil.Skyangel wrote: Logically, If you have a friend who never leaves you or forsakes you in reality but is with you always then you have no reason to be waiting for them to return since they never left in the first place. By definition, you cannot be separated from someone who is omnipresent.Skyangel wrote: It appears that most Christians have been separated from their omnipresent invisible God.
