Somewere i saw someone got a quote from somebody, i don`t remember much, here is a draft:
"What can be prooven without proof can be disprooved without proof"
-Somebody
Sorry if the somebody is offended about me not remembering, but lets get to the question.
I think the central core of christianity is the god named God, but as all know, there is no way to proove god, yet people belive in him/her/it [the bible says he but sometimes people get offended]. Then why bother beliving in something that got ZERO reason to exist, if there is proof of god, then i would appreciate to see it. There are however some types of "proof" that i don`t accept, you will understand why.
"It`s obvious that there is a god"
"look at the trees/sky/plants/animals/eye/diversity of life/wind/earth"
"you got to have a open mind!" [well, i was a christian before, didn`t notice god then, rather, born into christianity at the age of 7 or 6 i "strayed away"]
And i have seriously witnessed a christian comparing life to a computer code, DO NOT TELL ME THAT
Question: why belive in god?
God, prooven or disprooven?

Post #2If God does not reveal Himself it is impossible for you to see Him in any sense. He is a spirit and we are flesh; His ways are not our ways. Can't help you only God's Spirit can. Why don't you ask Him for starters?
1 Corinthians 2:14 (New King James Version)
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (New International)
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (WE)
14The person who does not have the Spirit does not receive the blessings of the Spirit of God. He thinks they are foolish. He cannot understand them because only people who have the Spirit of God can test them.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIRV)
14 Some people don't have the Holy Spirit. They don't accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. Things like that are foolish to them. They can't understand them. In fact, such things can't be understood without the Spirit's help.

Now apply that same thought to atheism. If it has been proven without proof then it can be disproven without proof. Why be an atheist?

Post #5Because of the lack of objective evidence for any kind of God. Why believe in something that can not be shown to be real?>bjs wrote:gabbeTroop wrote:Somewere i saw someone got a quote from somebody, i don`t remember much, here is a draft:

“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Why believe atheism, which cannot be shown to be true?
Actually, I think that there is some evidence for both sides, but not conclusive evidence for either side.

Post #7Given this is the Theology, Doctrine, and Dogma sub-forum, the Bible can be considered authoritative and thus one can believe in God because the Bible says God exists. I think the debate you are wanting to have would probably be better put into the Christianity and Apologetics sub-forum.gabbeTroop wrote:

Unless indicated otherwise what I say is opinion. (Kudos to Zzyzx for this signature).
