First they advocate programs such as welfare and free government subsidy programs.
Now they dare to speak out on the Arizona Immigration Law, which I doubt that the Church hierarcy is educated about.
1) Does the Catholic Church welcome open borders, amnesty, illgeal immigration employment and offer "pastoral support" to illegals because they need this faction in their pews?
2) Communism, or the ownership of communal property, is advocated in the Acts of the Apostles. The Church has a harsh view of Capitalism because they have been corrupted by the "michael moore conservative" that capitalism supports greediness. Is the Church misinformed on this issue?
3) The U.S Council of Catholic Bishops supported the healthcare bill once abortion funding was taken out. Again, is the church right or wrong on this issue.

It is supposed to be "Michael More Progressive"

Why do you think the diocese in Arizona are not informed? Just because they disagree with it does not mean they don't know about it.Now they dare to speak out on the Arizona Immigration Law, which I doubt that the Church hierarcy is educated about.
Generally the church does not involve itself greatly in political matters unlike many protestant denominations. They offer support to their fellow catholics and others that are in their area. The church does not advocate latinos to illegally immigrate to the US but when they are here it is their duty to help them if needed and possible.1) Does the Catholic Church welcome open borders, amnesty, illgeal immigration employment and offer "pastoral support" to illegals because they need this faction in their pews?
The church is not against capitalism but it is very much against greed, it is one of the deadly sins after all. If you have seen the movie Wall Street the character of Gordon Gecko is the very embodiment of what the church disapproves of.2) Communism, or the ownership of communal property, is advocated in the Acts of the Apostles. I don't see the problem here, the church has long been in favor of helping the less fortunate and this does just that. You may not like it but the catholilc church is a mostly socially liberal organization.3) The U.S Council of Catholic Bishops supported the healthcare bill once abortion funding was taken out. Which is one of the great hallmarks of the Church. My problem is with the Churches support of government subsidy aid. Is it moral for the government to take money from working americans and give it to those who are without employment, making them dependent on government assistance?
"Why do you think the diocese in Arizona are not informed? Just because they disagree with it does not mean they don't know about it."
They say it discriminates aganist hispanics and it leads to racial profiling (not just the church is saying this, but the entire left wing). Obviously they have not read the bill because the law prohibits profiling. That is why I hope Holder and the DOJ sue because the Ninth Circuit Appeals Court has already said the law would hold firm under a suit.

Post #5The idea is to provide economic assistance to people when times are bad not to make people permanently dependant on government aid. I would say it is both moral and constitutionally mandated for the government to provide for the general welfare of its citizens. Under a capitalist system there is always going to be a certain number of unemployed people. Sure some people abuse the system but the vast majority of people receiving government aid either aren't on it for very long or have a disability which makes it hard or impossible for them to find employment."The Catholic church has always advocated helping the less fortunate in society, these programs are in keeping with that tradition."

Just because the law says it prohibits profiling does not mean that it wont happen. From what I understand the law says law enforcement officers have to ask anyone they think may not be a citizen for documentation. In Arizona which racial group do you think is going to be nearly exclusively asked for said documents? Either way I can almost guarantee this case will be on the fast track for the supreme court."Why do you think the diocese in Arizona are not informed? Even though I am sort of a Catholic in exile, and disagree with them on several things, it is one of my greatest joys that this enormous and influential institution exists to countermand and undermine the OP's policy preferences.
Catholic social teaching is one of the great triumphs of humankind.
