As you know, Catholics and Orthodox believe in the divine eucharist.
Although the Protestant sects do not accept this...
Our Catholic teaching that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Jesus, not bread and wine, is clearly taught in the Bible and throughout the 2,000-year tradition of the Church.
But what does Scripture say about the Blessed Sacrament lets find out!
The teaching of Jesus in the sixth chapter of John's Gospel is very clear: "Amen, amen I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood you do not have life within you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food and My blood is true drink. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me and I in him" (John 6:53-56).
John goes on to say that, even though many disciples would not accept this teaching and went away, Jesus did not attempt to bring them back by saying He was only speaking symbolically, why?... because he truly was not speaking symbolically!
The early Church took this teaching seriously. In his first letter to the Corinthians, Saint Paul says, "Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the Body and Blood of the Lord... for anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgement on himself." (1 Corinthians 11:27,29) Paul's statement makes sense only if the bread and wine have become the real Body and Blood of Christ.
Our Protestant friends speak often and correctly of the need for a personal relationship with the Lord. What more personal relationship is there than to be nourished by the Body and Blood of Jesus, than receiving Him with love and devotion? And, since the Eucharist takes place in the context of a community meal, we are also united with our brothers and sisters of the faith. To make the presence of Jesus only a "symbolic" one is, therefore, to strip the eucharistic celebration of its true meaning.
Also to me, I do not go against my Lord teachings.. In the Last supper, our Lord says "This is my blood"; "This is my body" ( not correct scripture) so if my Lord says this... who am I to go against the Most High Lord?
Also we have the Exorcism of Nicola Aubrey which I put in my previous post, which the Devil himself forced by the Lord Our God to confess the truth that he is in sacrament.
Now the Eucharist Miracles;
Sienna, Italy -- August 17, 1730
Consecrated Hosts remain perfectly preserved for over 250 years. Rigorous scientific experiments have not been able to explain this phenomena.
Amsterdam, Holland 1345
Eucharist thrown into fire overnight miraculously is unscathed.
Blanot, France -- March 31, 1331
The Eucharist falls out of a woman's mouth onto an altar rail cloth. The priest tries to recover the Host but all that remains is a large spot of blood the same size and dimensions as the wafer.
Bolsena-Orvieta, Italy
Again, a priest has difficulties believing in the Real Presence, and blood begins seeping out of the Host upon consecration. Because of this miracle, Pope Urban IV commissioned the feast of Corpus Christi, which is still celebrated today.
Lanciano, Italy -- 8th century A.D.
A priest has doubts about the Real Presence; however, when he consecrates the Host it transforms into flesh and blood. This miracle has undergone extensive scientific examination and can only be explained as a miracle. The flesh is actually cardiac tissue which contains arterioles, veins, and nerve fibers. The blood type as in all other approved Eucharistic miracles is type AB! Histological micrographs are shown.
Also Scientific View on the Miracle of Lanciano;
In February 1574, Monsignor Rodrigues, in the presence of reliable witnesses, verified that the combined weight of the five clots of blood weighed the same as any one of them.
In 1970, Professor Doctor Odoardo Linoli (who was followed up by Doctor Ruggero Bertelli), performed many scientific tests on the flesh and blood. Conclusions were presented on March 4, 1971. In 1973, the Higher Council of World Health Organization (WHO) appointed a scientific commission to verify Linoli’s findings. A total of 500 examinations were completed over a time period of 15 months. All confirmed Linoli’s discoveries. The discoveries include the following:
(1) The lunette containing the flesh was not hermetically sealed.
(2) Although not properly sealed, the flesh and blood were not damaged.
(3) The flesh and blood were of human origin and of the same blood type (AB…the same blood type discovered on the Shroud of Turin).
(4) The flesh was “striated muscular tissue of the myocardium (heart wall and had no trace of any preservatives.
(5) The cut of the flesh would be extremely difficult for an expert.
(6) The blood contained minerals and proteins of normal ratios of fresh blood.
(7) The blood, had it been taken from a corpse, would have spoiled and decayed rapidly.
