Should The U.S. Constitution Conform To God's Standards?

Post by myth-one.com »

On the night of January 14, 2008, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee made the following statement:
I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that's what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards, rather than try to change God's standards.
Questions for debate: Should we risk our national heritage by amending the Constitution to meet God's standards? And who defines "God's standards?" The President?

It's already being done -- in Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Great idea Huck -- lets just jump on the lunatic fundamentalist bandwagon.

Freakin idiot. I never would have believed there would be even one person in this entire nations stupid enough to embrace this idiotic, maniacal thinking until I watched Jesus Camp. Have you SEEN THAT?

<shudder>
It seems that this "band wagon" carried the majority of the peoples of the Untied States for two centuries, until "we the people" became complacent in our duties, and allowed secular humanism to infiltrate our moral nation. In fact it is "absurd" to argue that our heritage is not founded upon the principals of accepting the "transcendent" authority of God over even our own legal system.

For centuries it was a requirement to place one's hand on the Holy Bible before making a sworn statement in any court room situation. And to top that off, up until 1920, these words were to be found in "BLACKSTONE'S COMMENTARIES ON THE LAW", the cornerstone of the American legal system from 1776-1920 that was considered the final authority in the US Supreme Court and endorsed by men such as these, "John Marshall", "James Madison", "Thomas Jefferson", "James Wilson", "Charles Finney", and of course "Abraham Lincoln", thus we find these words written within its pages for direction to our lawmakers.....

This Law Book taught that....

1.) US Law could not contradict God's direct decrees; however
2.) If God made no decree, we as a nation could set our own policies.

Section 2
"To instance in the case of murder; this is EXPRESSLY forbidden by the "DIVINE..." If any human law should allow or enjoin us to commit it, we are bound to transgress that human law....But, with regard to matters that are not commented or forbidden by {the Scriptures}, such as for instance, as the exporting of wool into foreign countries, here the Legislature has scope and opportunity to interpose...."

It seems the "band wagon" we as a nation were riding was toppled over by secular humanism when we allowed communism to gain a legal foothold into our constitution, with the pretense of morphing our Republican government into a pure democracy, which in the end will lead to suicide, as evidenced by history. This despite clear language in our Constitution making a prohibition on democracy...ARTICLE lV SECTION 4, clearly states a requirement that,"EACH STATE MAINTAIN A "REPUBLICAN" form of Government. Should we risk our national heritage by amending the Constitution to meet God's standards?
It already does: Separation of Powers because of the sin within man.
Separation of Church and State because Christ's kingdom's not of this world.
Executive, Legislative, Judical, a trinity.
Freedom of speech and faith, for the Gospel's sake.

And who defines "God's standards?" The President?
You ? Since you're the one who introduced the phrase here.
What do u mean by it ?

all these things like 'a nation under God' and 'in God we trust' and 'God bless America' shouldnt stand for america. It's just generalising the people of america as all christians. I understand that many non-theists or non-christians don't approve of this and it should be reconsidered.

to amend the constitution so its in gods standards is absolutely a bad thing.

Slavery or discrimination by race, gender or sin is crime against liberty and justice for all.

Please forgive.

The wagon you pull is evil and cannot be justly called moral; no matter Holy Words contrary. So it is also that the band you carry clangs only to mark of beast.

We hold truth as self-evident. Belief in Holy Words or Image (idolatry) is why we are closer now to our own destruction; even after more than two more bloody centuries and two by two more bloody millennia.

I confess; after deeply felt sacrifice of precious flesh and blood for rebirth of liberty; We conceded to relinquish even more innocents in further sacrifice to the band wagon of tyrants and beasts still infesting US and the World around. Thus the evil institution of slavery was condoned once again by Belief in Words of Bible and Constitution and Law over justice. Thus and again, war infests our cities and world to this day.

Alas, the wagon of Huckabee serves not in the spirit of christ and liberty; Huckabee and his band clang only to the mark of the beast of tyranny.

Please forgive.

Formulating an argument based on citations from a law book that has been obsolete for 10 years short of a CENTURY kind of reminds me of radical Muslims reading verses out of the Quran while hacking off someone's head with a dull knife.
