Post #2Probably not.justifyothers wrote:This is floating around the web. I thought it was an interesting debate topic.......
Many are.justifyothers wrote:CAN A GOOD MUSLIM BE A GOOD AMERICAN ??
And others hold allegiance to the gods or to no god. Is America a theocracy?justifyothers wrote:Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia.
But they are to hold the people of the Book up to a certain level of respect. There are moderates and extremists, tolerant and intolerant Muslims.justifyothers wrote:Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)
I did not know that the scripture had anything to say about being an American.justifyothers wrote:Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran).
I guess that would rule out Catholics who's Holy Father lives near Rome.justifyothers wrote:Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
I have Muslim friends.justifyothers wrote:Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Really? All Muslims?justifyothers wrote:Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.
Like Christianity, there are different interpretations. Is every Christian husband the head of his wife and does not allow her to speak or to teach men?justifyothers wrote:Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34).
I can show that the American Constitution and the American Declaration of Independence are not based on Biblical principles.justifyothers wrote:Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
And Christianity has always been the model of toleration and acceptance?justifyothers wrote:Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
"On Nation Under God" was a really stupid idea and should be scrapped. However, it does not specify which God, does it?justifyothers wrote:Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "One Nation Under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore after little study and less deliberation, perhaps we should be very suspicious of all those who would restrict citizenship based on race, religion or gender.justifyothers wrote:Therefore after much study and deliberation... perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Post #4I don't believe this..........just posting for debate. I know not all Muslims are haters of Americans. However, I am NOT politically correct enough to say that NONE are.bernee51 wrote:is this crap you beleive or are you posting it just to stir debate?justifyothers wrote: >

Post #6I don't even know if I am a good American - whatever that is. I cannot tolerate the government of any country. And I think we should have open borders with Mexico. So, there's my unpatriotic side. The Project Hate wrote:Can also work with " Can an idiot be a good american ?".bernee51 wrote:Can a buddhist be a good American? My point was actually that the guy that wrote what you quoted in first post is an idiot and therefore can't be "a good american".

I would remind posters to provide evidence and or logic to back up their assertions. Simply labeling another member's arguements as 'crap' does not meet the standard of civil debate.
However, that being said, the following is not justified and is also a violation of the rules against personal attacks.
