The 'Abomination of Desolation' was the Crucifixion...
Mark 13:14
"But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judæa flee to the mountains:"
That is what I believe.

The "abomination of desolation" in the disciples' time, seen in Jerusalem, was the pagan emblems on the flags of those that were carried by the Roman soldiers right up to the Temple doors, "standing where they ought not." That was anathema to the Jewish residents.
In our time it is the United Nations that is taking the place of God's Kingdom, surely to be an abomination to Christ's followers today who are awaiting God's Kingdom by Christ.

Post #3Killing the Saviour was the greatest abomination that could ever occur. Because of that, their house was made desolate...
Luke 13:35
"Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord."

And forces will stand away from him, and they will profane the sanctuary, the fortress. And they shall remove the regular sacrifice , and they will place the abomination that desolates.

Post #5While that us true, Mark reports that Christians were too look out for an abomination that would signal they should immediately flee Jerusalem. This could not hsve been Christ's execution since it was imperative they remain in the city at least for the three days necessary to witness his resurrection.
MARK 13
... when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation+ standing where it should not be (let the reader use discernment), then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains

You Jehovah's Witnesses need to make up your minds, Lord in Romans 14:8 is "Theos." In my other posts, you claim Lord refers to Jesus, and LORD refers to the Father. In Romans 14:8, it says, "Lord" So we belong to Jesus. Jesus said we are his sheep, and he is our Shepherd. He also said, John 16:15, "All things that the Father has are mine:" Please make up your mind, your posts are causing confusion among your ranks.

Re: The 'Abomination of Desolation' was the Crucifixion
Post #7Thanks for the replies, everyone. The issue is the timing.
Daniel 12:11
"And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days."
There is no way of getting around that. Scripture has the date set in stone...
Revelation 12:6
"And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."

Note that the '2300 Days' Prophecy is from the end of Noah's Flood to the Crucifixion (Transgression of Desolation) and cleansing of the Sanctuary (anoint Most Holy)...

Daniel 8:13-14
"Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."
We now have a Double Witness.
The Abomination of Desolation and cleansing happens at the same time.
- 1260 = Jesus is born
- 1290 = Jesus begins ministry
- 1335 = Siege of Jerusalem 70AD

Post #8You can't mix both prophecies, Daniel 8 with Daniel 12.Base12 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 2:47 pm Thanks for the replies, everyone. The issue is the timing.
The Abomination of Desolation happened at 1290 in the timeline...
- 1260 = Jesus is born
- 1290 = Jesus begins ministry
- 1335 = Siege of Jerusalem 70AD

The Abomination of Desolation and cleansing happens at the same time.
When the temple was destroyed in 70 A.D., and over a million Jews were slaughtered, and thousands taken to Rome, what was the blessing Daniel speaks of? Verse 12, "Blessed is he that waits and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days." There was no blessing. The Temple wasn't cleaned by any High Priest in 70 A.D., Daniel 8:14. It was God's curse on the Jews and the land that brought the Roman Legions in.
One more thing, your conclusions end in 70 A.D., is that what you're saying?
The Jews are still under God curse, and are still being trodden underfoot by their enemies, Islam. Also, Islam still controls God's Holy Mountain, Mt. Moriah. That piece of property David purchased for the LORD still belongs to the LORD. What sits on that Holy Mt. is the "Abomination of Desolation," it's the Dome of the Rock. A temple to a false God, Allah; that's the abomination.

Post #10The blessing was for those that understood Daniel and Jesus and were therefore able to heed the warnings and leave Jerusalem before the siege happened.placebofactor wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 5:43 pm When the temple was destroyed in 70 A.D., and over a million Jews were slaughtered, and thousands taken to Rome, what was the blessing Daniel speaks of? They were blessed because they believed and were saved from that terrible fate.
