Maunday Thursday

Post by rstrats »

Does anyone who is familiar with Maundy Thursday, the day during Holy Week which commemorates the washing of the feet and last supper of the Messiah with the apostles know what part of Thursday that this took place - during the night time at the beginning of Thursday, or during the daytime toward the end of Thursday?

Yes, Jesus body was not at the cross, He was laid on Joseph of Arimathea's tomb.
OK, either you're just messing with me or "What we have here is a failure to communicate."

I don't know what you mean that I am just messing with you.
My respond is "Jesus body was already on the tomb after sunset of Friday.
Is there anything you want to imply?

You wrote in post #44 -
"So, 'second half of Friday' as Friday daylight, yes, Jesus body was taken from the cross after the ninth hour, in Jewish time reckoning, the ninth hour corresponds to 3 p.m."

I then asked you in post #45 -
"But what was going on during the first half of Friday?"

You replied in post #46 -
"Jesus body at the tomb."

But you just wrote in post #44 that the Messiah was taken off the cross during the second half of Friday.

Is there anything you want to imply?
Yes, that you're making contradictory statements.

Maybe I am confused of your created terms, 1st half of and 2nd half of.
Can it be simply defined as "day or night?"

No. It's necessary to delineate it from a midnight-to-midnight calendar day.

But I believe the Bible reckoning of day is from sunset to sunset.

Lev 23:32
32 "It is to be a sabbath of complete rest to you, and you shall humble your souls; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening you shall keep your sabbath."

In your post #32 you wrote: "First night, was Thursday night...but you then wrote that the "First day [was] Friday".
Thus, using a sunset-to-sunset calendar day, the first night (actually the only night) of Thursday would be the first half of that day, i.e., from 6pm to 6am.

So, when you wrote "First day [was] Friday, were you referring to the calendar day or were your referring to the daytime of the calendar day?

Ok, I'll repost using the Bible reckoning;
First night - after sunset of Thursday, that is Friday evening,
First day - Friday morning,
Second night - after sunset of Friday, that is Saturday evening,
Second day - Saturday morning,
Third night - after sunset of Saturday, that is Sunday evening,
Third day - Sunday morning.

OK, you have that correct now. However, this topic is about Maundy Thursday, but there's nothing in your post about the Lord's Supper on that day. Plus, you write: "First night - after sunset of Thursday, that is Friday evening..."

First night with regard to what?

With regards to the time that the Father's protection was not with Jesus anymore.
