Differences between Ancient Jews and the Church. What are your thoughts on the following?
The way of salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ. Our experiences through the ages have not and continue not to be the same for all. Following, are a few differences between the ancient Jews, and Christians.
1. The ancient Jews could look forward only with imperfect knowledge for the coming Messiah.
Christians are privileged to rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ, by faith alone.
2. Throughout the O.T. period, the Holy Spirit's work was authoritatively directed.
In the period of grace, the church age, the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer.
3. The Jews by blood were citizens of God's covenant nation Israel.
The life of the Christian church is united by the Holy Spirit into one body, having one head, Jesus Christ.
4. Israel's blessings were earthly blessings tied to the Promised Land.
The blessings of the Church are spiritual, whose promise is heaven.
5. The promises to the Jews were prophetic; they reached far into the future; promises concerning the coming of their Messiah.
Christians are personally identified with Messiah in His death, and resurrection, and are seated in spirit with Him in heaven.
John 10:10, Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Post #3The ancient Jews were under the law: When the church age began, believing Jews and Gentiles were under the wing of Jesus Christ, saved by his works and by our faith in him. Any Jew, ancient or modern who either disobeyed the law before Christ, or now rejects Jesus as their Savior, remains under law, and will be judged by the law.lifelongseeker wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 9:26 pm [Replying to placebofactor in post #1]
