To the spirits in prison

Revelation 13:8: This verse must be used in the context of the following article. “The Lamb (Jesus Christ) slain from the foundation of the world” as in, from the creation.

Genesis 6:3, The LORD said, “My Spirit (Holy Spirit) shall not always strive (abide) with man, for that he (man) also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.” The antediluvians were given 120 years to repent.

1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just (Jesus) for the unjust, that he might bring us to God (the Father), being put to death in the flesh, but quickened (made alive) by the (Holy) Spirit. By which also he (Jesus) went and preached unto the spirits in prison; which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah (120 years), while the ark was being prepared, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.”

Ephesians 2:5, “God, “spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person,”

1 Peter 4:6, “For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” Peter’s words cover 2400 years, from the fall to the flood to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Limbus partum: Latin for the doctrine of the temporary state of the O.T. patriarchs who died but could not enter heaven until redemption by Jesus Christ made it possible. Before the flood, men like Abel, Seth, Enos, Jared, Methuselah, Lamech, and others of the family of Seth, all Patriarchs their spirits held in captivity, held in Tartarus until redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 4:8 supports this view. “When he (Jesus) ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” From his ascension, Christ took the souls of the patriarchs from this limbus to heaven.

Also, these in Matthew 27:52-53 were a part of Christ's redeeming powers. “The graves were opened; and many of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his (Jesus) resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

Others who have died and been convicted of transgressions against God will be sentenced, their souls wait in Tartarus, a part of Hades, waiting for the day of judgment. This is why Peter wrote, “The gospel was preached (of old) Galatians 3:8, “Preached before the gospel before Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed.”

From Noah to Abraham to Christ, the gospel has been preached to those who were dead, so that they might be judged as all men will be Judged in the flesh.

I see no one commented on the article. So, I will assume you all agree that when a person dies, the body is buried, and the soul and spirit of men wait in limbo for the resurrection.

Absolutely not. When a person dies THE WHOLE PERSON is buried and awaits a resurrection at the "last day." (John 5:28; John 6:44) There is no spirit that waits in limbo. A person's spirit is the breath of God that gives him the ability to live. The "soul" is the entire person, with thoughts and everything. It gets buried at death. It waits in the GRAVE for the resurrection. Nothing has been preached to "those who are dead," literally, because "the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing." (Ecclesiastes 9:5, KJV)

The Bible doesn't teach that there are many divisions or compartments in hell. "Tartarus" is the debauched STATE that the demons are now in---- it is not a location but a state of being. "Hell" is the GRAVE and not a place of torture. Demons are not in hell. They survive in the atmosphere around the earth, causing untold damage to the earth and the human race. "Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience." (Ephesians 2:2, KJV)

You appear to be ignoring the verses quoted above. Read them carefully, set aside what you have been told, use your common sense, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand. Also, go over my article on the four chambers of hell. I hope you get it, I believe the end is only a few years from now, my guess, October 2027.

I have not "been told" to view Tartarus and Hell in a certain way. I figured it out myself. You give credence to the pagan philosophers' points of view. They have molded YOUR outlook on these things, so it's kind of backward of you to accuse ME of falling victim to others' points of view. I have read those verses that you quoted and disagree with the way you understand them.

Concerning Matt.27, I understand, after perusing this incident, that the dead bodies of the saints were thrown up out of their graves before Jesus was resurrected, and then after his resurrection people that passed by and saw the mess went into the city and reported it. I have asked Jehovah to give me H.S. to understand.

So you give credence to the Catholic doctrine of Limbo. It is not a Bible teaching. The people who died before Jesus' time are still waiting in their graves for the resurrection that Jesus said would occur "at the last day." (John 6:44, KJV)

When Jesus "carried away gifts in men," he was providing the congregation with overseers to help their congregations do the work Jesus commissioned all Christians to do. There was no resurrecting of the ancients yet, unlike what you believe.

When Christ died, he died in the flesh, but was "made alive in the spirit," (NASB) and being in the spirit he went and made proclamation to the spirits in prison (the demons) who "once were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark." (I Peter 3:18-20, NASB) The demons became demons when they came down from their proper dwelling place in heaven and had intercourse with human women. See Genesis 6:1,2. Jude 6 shows that these spirits were angels: "Angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day." (NASB) They are in deep spiritual darkness, not in a single location, but experiencing the acute separation from God. The spirits of dead people would not be available because dead people can't do anything or feel anything or think about anything. (Ecclesiastes 9:5,10) So if dead people don't know anything, why would we think that they would be able to go with Christ to heaven? It doesn't add up.
