If you can only use one word to describe a characteristic of God that we should follow as an example what word would you use?
And why do you choose that word?
How are we to be like God?

Post #161Yes, to be like God is to take up that mantle and follow your own rules, without God. You are putting yourself in the place of God.Capbook wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2024 4:02 am"To be like God" Do you believe Satan's word?onewithhim wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 7:14 pmDo I "believe Satan's word." you ask. It's not a case of who believes what. Satan's word came true, because the first humans did get independence from God and made themselves their own masters. They decided to follow their own wills instead of God's. Satan tricked Eve into believing that something good would come from eating from the one tree. He lied, but Adam and Eve did become "like God" in that they dictated for themselves what they would do. Eve thought it meant something else, that they would be equal to God. Satan tricked her, and he has said things that came true but in another aspect. He twists things around. Do YOU believe that Satan lied? Then why castigate me for believing so?Capbook wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 2:22 amSo you believe Satan's word?onewithhim wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 4:07 pmI stand by what I said.onewithhim wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 12:37 pm [Replying to Capbook in post #132]
Satan said that humans could be like God. That means that they would have independence from God and follow their own wills rather than God's.
God give us freewill, to believe or not to believe Him.
God will not enforce His love to us. We will be able to love Him because of His indescribable kindness, goodness, mercy, etc, and also because He first love us.
Do to be independence from God is it "to be like God?"
Is to follow our own will, is it "to be like God?"
Cause for me "to be like God" is;
1Ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

How are we to be like God?
God is a Spirit:
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Therefore, Christians will become like God when born again of the Spirit as an immortal spirit:
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6)
That's it!

Re: How are we to be like God?
Post #164That is true. However, not every believer will be called to go to heaven. Only the 144,000 anointed ones will be in heaven with Jesus. They make up his "bride," the "New Jerusalem." Billions of believers will live on the earth in physical bodies forever. (Psalm 37:9-11, 29; Matthew 5:5)myth-one.com wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 9:34 pm [Replying to Capbook in post #160]

Re: How are we to be like God?
Post #165Satan was getting at something else when he told Eve she could "be like God." He was suggesting that she rule herself, independently from God. She would be like God in that she would be making her own rules.Capbook wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:20 amI don't say without God. Post #166Describing Christians who will be born again as spiritual beings, the Bible proclaims:onewithhim wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 12:55 pmBillions of believers will live on the earth in physical bodies forever. (Psalm 37:9-11, 29; Matthew 5:5)
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Revelation 21:4)
But your "billions of physical bodied believers" living eternally on the earth will experience sorrow, crying, and pain.
Those are the former things which passed away when they were born again of the Spirit as spirits.
Why would those suffering pain now desire an eternal life capable of suffering pain?
I think God is better than that!

Post #167Why do you say that people on earth during Christ's rule will experience sorrow, crying and pain? There will be none of those things on the earth when Paradise is real again, after Armageddon. Revelation 21:4 applies to the physical righteous people that will live on the earth in the flesh.myth-one.com wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 1:55 pmDescribing Christians who will be born again as spiritual beings, the Bible proclaims:onewithhim wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 12:55 pmBillions of believers will live on the earth in physical bodies forever. Because "sorrow, crying and pain" are characteristics of people.
Do you believe that fact?
Yes or no.

Post #169Not in the new system of things. People will have to become peaceful and loving and obedient to God. These are requirements for people to be living forever, in harmony with others and even the animals. No, the one requirement for people to gain everlasting life is to believe in Jesus as their Saviour:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
