No man has seen God at any time

Post by Stewardofthemystery »

It is written in John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

And Jesus said in John 14:6-7
King James Version
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”

So if no man has seen God at any time, how do we reconcile what seems to be a contradiction? When you understand the identity of the Son of God being the very Word of God, then you will understand there is no contradiction.

It is the Word OF God that was made flesh in the man Jesus. And it is BY God’s Word and words that we get to know and see what God the Father is really like, His likes and dislikes. It is by God’s Word and words we get to see and know the will of God the Father.

In this way, by looking at the words and actions of Jesus Christ we get to see and know what The invisible God is really like.

We don’t see the outward image of God in Christ, but rather we see the inward image of God in Jesus Christ, as God was in Christ.

Colossians 1:15
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

When you understand this mystery then there is a harmony to the text without contradiction.

Peace and God bless

Well, he wrote books used by many.
So has Oprah doesn't mean we have to agree with his conclusions.
They are Biblical commentaries....

So?! Nobody should agree with a biblical commentary just because many others do. It's reasoning is sound and in harmony with scripture or it is not.
To me they are in harmony with the Scripture.
Congratualtions ; I happen to disagree; is that okay?
You did not address my question of "do you also have commentaries?"

My index is in the footnote, you can easily find examples of my using a wide variety of commentaries.

I have used commentaries. Did you respond to them? I don't recall that you did.

Well, when I do reference commentaries, why don't you respond right away? I always respond to your posts. Now, about the statement in the OP: "No man has seen God at any time." That cancels out Jesus as being God. Men have seen him. No one has literally seen the true God, YHWH. Jesus is not God.

No Man has seen God at anytime?

I am a little bit amused when some claim that no man has seen God at anytime…..really??? Do they claim that even Jesus has not seen God his father?

Further consider the following:

Genesis 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Deuteronomy 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

Genesis 33:10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

May I suggest that perhaps the powerful experience of seeing God face to face is really a serious matter of spiritual preparation required of Moses, the pure in heart or you or I.

The Bible says that no man has seen God. Not even Jacob or Moses. Moses saw His glory and talked with God AS IF they were face-to-face. Jacob was undoubtedly referring to the fact that he saw an angel---a representative of God---and he considered that as being face-to-face with God. We need to consider poetic license here. No man had seen God, nor have since. If you want to throw out what the Bible says about no one sees Him and lives, you can do so, but there are ways to explain what is meant by Moses and Jacob "seeing" God.
