Re: Should misinformation be banned from the major platforms?
If a person is Asexual then their biological assembly is probably different to folks who are sexually driven or active.Asexual simply means that someone is not sexually attracted to anyone, male or female.
Where did you learn such an opinion that separates the biological assemblies of Heterosexual, Homosexual and Asexual people?Homosexual means attracted to people of the same biological sex and such people can be male or female.
And by the way, I noticed a news article this morning that explains how 1/5 th of all US Methodist Churches have supported the attendance of LGBT worshippers, and some support ordination and marriages of LGBT people, so Christianity might be moving away from the old ideas......No?

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/us/unite ... 4651&ei=47
More than 6,000 United Methodist congregations — a fifth of the U.S. total — have now received permission to leave the denomination amid a schism over theology and the role of LGBTQ people in the nation's second-largest Protestant denomination.
Those figures emerge following the close of regular meetings in June for the denomination's regional bodies, known as annual conferences. The departures began with a trickle in 2019 — when the church created a four-year window of opportunity for U.S. congregations to depart over LGBTQ-related issues — and cascaded to its highest level this year.

Post #232Who told you that? Asexuality is not a preference......it is a physical condition, surely?DrNoGods wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 12:20 pm [Replying to oldbadger in post #226]
As brunumb commented, sex preferences are separate from biological sex makeup.Thank you for that......... and so please can you confirm that it is possible for a male with an XY chromosome pair to be asexual?
You might also tell me if you think a woman with an XX chromosome pair can be asexual?
Who decided that Asexuality is just choice or preference? That's a bit like telling that IQ is a preference, surely?

Post #234Why would that be the case? For instance, what is different in the biological assembly of gay men compared with straight men?

Post #235I'm not sure why you brought this up. I am not religious in any way. That they may be finally catching up with the rest of society is a good thing, but their opinions don't matter when it comes to the reality of sex and gender.oldbadger wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 1:16 am And by the way, I noticed a news article this morning that explains how 1/5 th of all US Methodist Churches have supported the attendance of LGBT worshippers, and some support ordination and marriages of LGBT people, so Christianity might be moving away from the old ideas......No?

Post #236In that case please explain the nature of that physical condition. If one has no interest at all in watching sport, is that due to a physical condition? What could it be? Similarly, how do you account for not having a sexual attraction to anyone based on some physical condition?

Post #237In this episode Trent reveals how to frame the debate over sex and gender in a way that reveals the incoherency of transgender ideology. He also explains chromosomal abnormalities and how they don’t disprove the sexual binary.

I wouldn't put IQ and asexuality in the same category. A person with a low IQ cannot suddenly decide to have a high IQ. But an asexual person could suddenly decide they wanted to involve themselves in sexual activity and physically do it ... they just prefer not to for whatever reason.
I didn't claim there was no genetic basis for asexuality that could explain why someone has that preference, but barring some other physical problem (eg. if male, ED, or inability to obtain or maintain an erection due to lack of interest), an asexual person could presumably engage in sex and reproduce just like any other person. Nothing in their physical makeup prevents them from being a sexual being, but for whatever reason they don't have any interest in sex (which I admit is unusual). But that fact that, physically, they could engage in sex suggests that being asexual is a decision, a preference, a choice they've made (regardless of the reason for it). I don't like eggs, but there is nothing stopping me from eating them besides my own preference and lack of desire.Who decided that Asexuality is just choice or preference? That's a bit like telling that IQ is a preference, surely?

In human affairs the sources of success are ever to be found in the fountains of quick resolve and swift stroke; and it seems to be a law, inflexible and inexorable, that he who will not risk cannot win.

Post #239Yeah... I'm not going to have a Catholic explain sexuality to me...

I would like to point out that this forum is probably one of the worst places to have this debate, since it is set up to discuss ancient, misogynist, patriarchal, anti-scientific ideas based on conservative religious views. Great place to talk about ancient manuscripts and who Christians are supposed to be bigoted against, not a place to talk about biological discoveries past - oh, say, 200CE.

It is clear from the findings that there is a greater likelihood of concordance for transsexuality among males than among females and a greater chance of concordance among monozygotic twins than dizygotic twins.[/quote]

I'd encourage everyone to approach the research with an open mind. There is nothing wrong with gender being more complex than originally believed - and, for my own part, there is no problem if gender is binary. The problem is people are using a few comments in a few scientific papers to justify bigotry and cruelty. Worse, some peopel are using archaic beliefs to tell another person how they ought to live their life - which I think should warrant the death penalty to people who think they can tell someone what to do with their body and life.

Re: Should misinformation be banned from the major platforms?
Post #240Wow. The transgender movement is all about shutting down debate and using misinformation and pseudoscience to push their agenda. Threaten and punish the dissenters for even trying to engage in debate. That said, this might be useful to anyone wishing to understand what is actually meant by open-mindedness.:boatsnguitars wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:58 am I would like to point out that this forum is probably one of the worst places to have this debate, since it is set up to discuss ancient, misogynist, patriarchal, anti-scientific ideas based on conservative religious views. I'm guessing there is going to be a reason why you can't watch this one.
