When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.
Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

I do understand how someone might believe they are just the body-set. Materialists explain it well enough as they too self identify to being the body set. So if one prefers to think themselves as the body and not the soul, that is what they are, until such a time as they are shown otherwise. You completely misunderstood what I wrote, and no, I'm not going to go over it again. Think over what I posted a bit more. What I wrote is quite clear.

Post #2603Haven't we learned yet that the "soul" is the complete human (or animal)? It is not something inside a person or animal. Adam became a living soul. See Genesis. That's quite a claim ...Please provide scripture (chapter and verse)
Readers familiar with what Jesus spoke about re death, should have no problem in knowing what I am referring to, and I am adamant that getting into religious arguments to do with what the different authors of the books which make up the bible believed, and which belief one should follow after and proclaim the "true" belief, is a deceptive web of silliness which I have no intention of getting caught up in.

There are other samples which speak about death in another way...and these samples are verified through what folk have to tell us about their experiences re OOB and NDE, which at least show that when Jesus spoke about death, and he was not speaking about personalities returning to the dust of the Earth, it appears by the witness of those who share their own experiences, that Jesus is correct.

What makes a "soul" living, or dead?
I do understand how someone might believe they are just the body-set. Materialists explain it well enough as they too self identify to being the body set. So if one prefers to think themselves as the body and not the spirit, that is what they are, until such a time as they are shown otherwise.
Where is your consciousness, inside or outside your body?Haven't we learned yet that the "soul" is the complete human (or animal)? It is not something inside a person or animal. Adam became a living soul. See Genesis. (Also, animals are referred to as "souls.")

Re: Paradise on Earth
Post #2609[Replying to JehovahsWitness in post #2608]
The bible authors obviously had different concepts about what happens to the personality after the body-set dies, and my mention of what biblical Jesus spoke about that, should be familiar to anyone who reads about it.
What did Jesus say about death?
The dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to YHVH who gave it.
My argument is simply to say that if you want to take the materialist view about that, it is your prerogative, but there is plenty of evidence which speaks about death in another way...and these samples of evidence are verified through what folk have to tell us about their experiences re OOB and NDE, which at least show that when Jesus spoke about death, and he was not speaking about personalities returning to the dust of the Earth. It appears by the witness of those who share their own experiences, that Jesus is correct.

No. I don't even mind if you don't provide scripture to back up your claims because - as pointed out - I do understand how someone might believe they are just the body-set. Materialists explain it well enough as they too self identify to being the body set. So if one prefers to think themselves as the body and not the spirit, that is what they are, until such a time as they are shown otherwise.Do you object to me asking you for the same thing you asked of me?
