The Demand re Burden of Proof - Reasonable or Not?

My questions are directed toward Theists.

Often, when it comes to what I call "The Question of GOD", the cry from non-believers is "show us the [scientific] evidence!" and other variants on that theme.

In examining Theism in general, I find that most beliefs have some kind of image attached to their various ideas of GOD/Gods.

Even so, these GOD/Gods all reside elsewhere, rather than are fixtures within the universe, so one simply cannot point to any and answer the demand.

ImageAs a Theist, do you think it is reasonable for anyone to demand [scientific] evidence of an invisible creator entity {a GOD}?

{Re the Bible, is there anything therein which can help answer this question?}

Image As a Theist, was it [scientific] evidence which prompted you to believe in the existence of a creator-GOD, or something else?

I think there are many things that are normally invisible, electricity, brains, gravitational force... ...we believe they are real, because of the effect. Is an effect enough scientific evidence for anything?

In a way God is like a force. By what the Bible tells, He has certain effects and was for example the creator of this world. World can be seen as evidence, but one could claim God is not the real cause but something else is. Person who doesn't want to believe in God, can take any other explanation, even if not evidence for it to be real exists.

Same is with the Bible, it can be seen as effect of God. But, person who doesn't want to believe, can explain it to be something else. I think God is the best explanation for both, world and the Bible. For the Bible also because Bible has information that I don't think people without God would have had.

The problem with this is, people can always invent new explanations, if they don't like the old one. However, it is interesting that Bible actually gives for example this:

If anyone desires to do his will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I am speaking from myself.
John 7:17

But, would that work, if you would do so, would you believe it even when you would see it, or would you explain it so that it fits to secular world view? It is probably not possible to fit God to secular world view, even if real.

I personally believe to God because life exists and because of the Bible, which shows wisdom and knowledge that I don't think humans would have without God. But, I don't think believing in God's existence is the important thing, because Bible tells that even demons believe.

You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.
James 2:19

More important and useful is to become righteous, to have right understanding of what is good and right and desire to do what is good, because:

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

That is why I think God doesn't offer more evidence of His existence. If it doesn't make person righteous, it is not useful.
