Isaiah 3 is part of God's declaration of judgement upon disobedient House of Jacob. One segment describes how God will "smite" the daughters women of Zion (vs. 17), and will "discover their secret parts." (vs.17) Their "haughty" behavior (vs.16) is described that they either do or have"
"Walk with stretched forth necks"
"Wanton eyes"
"Walking and mincing as they go"
"Making a tinkling with their feet"
"Tinkling ornaments"
"Cauls" (jewelry)
"Round tires like the moon" (neck ornaments)
"Chains, Bracelets, Mufflers"
"Bonnets"
"Ornaments of the legs"
"Headbands"
"Tablets"
"Earrings"
"Rings and nose jewels"
"Changeable suits of apparel"
"Mantles"
"Wimples"
"Crisping pins"
"Glasses"
"Fine linen"
"Hoods"
"Veils"
God states He will then give them:
"Stink"
"Rent" (torn garments)
"Baldness"
"Sackcloth"
"Burning instead of beauty"
The condemnation is not based upon their errant theology, disobedience to The Law, or criminal behavior, but merely upon their fashion statements. This outward appearance of attire, adornment, posturing, and mincing is the only issue identified as offensive to God. It had nothing to do with the condition of their hearts. It had nothing to do with their natural need to express their personslity, or to feel confident in their appearance. Given the amount of money, time, and effort these fashion statements easily occupy in the minds of Women, this passage from Isaiah still applies today.
This gives us a clear teaching about what Real Christian Women are to refrain from lest they become judged. In principle as it concerns sheer vanity, the list could also include tattoos, makeup, hair dyes, piercings, cosmetic surgery, hair extensions, fake eyelashes, corsets, nylon stockings, facial glitter, fake moles, wigs, salon facials, party outfits, and and cosmetic dentistry.
Is it a good idea to mock and ignore God's Word here, or to heed it out of obedience and love for Him?

“The women of Zion are haughty,
walking along with outstretched necks,
flirting with their eyes,
strutting along with swaying hips,
Adornment in and of itself was not the issue. The Bride of Christ is adorned for her husband (Rev 21:2, see also Isaiah 61).

And the outside is not what matters. The heart is what God sees, is it not?
"Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. [The LORD] does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but [the LORD] looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
See also the words that Christ spoke (from Matt 15:19) for what makes a person unclean.
Peace again to you,
your servant and a slave of Christ,

I do not know how you get that from Isaiah 3. The passage is about wrongdoing in Judah and Jerusalem (both men and women). And the section referring to women specifically starts out with the problem:[Replying to Benson in post #1]

Post #12God instructed Isaiah to list 24 specific things of the Jewish Wimmin's outfits we were to specifically demonstrate their haughtiness which He judged in their hearts. Those 24 things were revealed by God because they showed haughtiness of heart. If the Wimmin had not had haughty hearts, they would not showing such self centered nonsense in their outfits.tam wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:06 pm Peace to you,

Here is a question: Do haughty looking outfits on a Women show her haughty heart? Or, do humble and modest outfits show a humble and modest heart? Just answer as if God were hearing your answer, because He is!

Re: An Important Biblical Doctrine of Women.
Post #13So is your point that if the hauty women in Isaiah's day wore something, godly women should thereafter avoid wearing those same things? Is that your point?
GENESIS 24:65 ESV
So she [Rebecca] took her veil and covered herself.

Perhaps you can state clearly what you are trying to say about the things mentioned in your list. Are you insinuating a godly woman should never wear a veil because of what is stated in Isaiah chapter three? Yes or no?

1 CORINGHIANS 11:34 ESV
Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven..

Post #14Thanks for being so wonderfully blessed by your goodness you had to mention it. I agree with how you regard it.PinSeeker wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 3:11 pm Isaiah 3 is not particularly about women at all, but about all Israelites... all God's people in Jerusalem and the tribe of Judah in particular and the judgment they will endure from Him for their pride, their arrogance, their oppressive actions, their lust, their lack of stewardship, and and their negligence in serving the Lord and ministering to the people... sin of all kinds, including idolatry... in spite of his grace and mercy. Yes, the latter part is devoted to how women will be on the receiving end of this judgment, but the larger part before that is devoted to men. Thus, all the people. Regarding women and verse 16 going forward, God says absolutely nothing about these possessions of women being "bad" or "evil" or sinful in and of themselves, but merely that they will be judged for their sin and punished by the taking away of these things because of their idolatry.
My goodness.
Grace and peace to all.
Yes, all of the Old Testament is indeed about the Israelites, and certainly Isaiah 3. Did the Israelite men have any problem with the attire and accessories listed by God?
