"Protecting abortion access is a Catholic Value"

Post by Elijah John »

I just saw a protesters sign reading:

Protecting abortion access is a Catholic value".

Really? How so?

Is that the official policy of the RCC now? Prove it.

Sounds to me this is more of a case of false witness or scandal. Wishful thinking at best.

Should the holder of this sign be excommunicated? Or are they automatically excommunicated?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

From what I've read, they'd lose close to half. That half considers themselves both Catholic and Pro-Choice. Half, give or take a few, would certainly qualify as many.

What is your source please. But if that is true, it sure would account for why pro-choice politicians keep winning in heavily Catholic states, such as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, etc, etc.

From Pew Research Center: Here's more from Catholics for Choice:
  • Kansas is home to more than 400,000 Catholics, making up 14% of the state’s population. Decades of polling tells us that a solid majority of Catholics believe that abortion should be legal in the United States and six in 10 Catholics believe abortion can be a moral choice. And the Catholics in Kansas agree.

"Catholics for choice" is clearly a biased organization. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Your inability to trust them is not evidence that their statistics are flawed. Your claim that they are a biased organization is likewise not evidence that they are indeed a biased organization.

And whether or not one agrees on the issue of abortion, I think we all agree that any "club" has a right to make it's own rules, including the RCC. Pro-choice politicians and protesters who call themselves Catholic are not playing by the rules.
Not when the "club" uses scare tactics to keep it's members in line.

Anyone is free to leave the RCC at anytime, unlike with cults. What scare tactics are you talking about? Examples please.

The bias is in the title of their organization. What makes you think there is no confirmation bias in their sampling, their methods or their results? Common sense indicates they have a self-serving interest in the results you have presented. Also, their results differ from Pew. Dramatically. Who are you going to believe?

Your statement here is analogous to believing that Lisa Page and Peter Struck (sp) are unbiased investigators of President Trump when their emails indicate strong negative bias against the President.

I never made such a claim. You on the other hand claimed there was conformational bias. You'll need to present something more than the title of their organization to support this claim.

The Catholic church has a long list of Mortal sins even one of which can get you sent to hell if you don't repent. One of which is Leaving the Catholic faith for another religion or practice.
