heres a true story.
i went (now graduated) from a small school in rural Canada. This was a public school that taught evolution and all that jazz however there was one thing that made this school special. out of all the schools in the district, nay the province, it was the only school to play the Lords Prayer following the Canadian Anthe in the morning...this is including religious schools and private schools.
not only that... I (being a non-believer) was forced, day after day to stand for the prayer against my will by teachers, both christians and mormons. when i refused, i was suspended. when i approched the principal to have the prayer removed, he refused and i was suspended. The All-christian sudent council, reworked their constitution so that only christian students could get elected. The devout principal and fellow staff members signed it to make it "legal". The school became controlled by a religion i did not follow, and most frighteningly in a public school....

When I went to school in suburban Ontario, every school had the Lord's Prayer. That was quite a while ago. They thought at the time they were being progressive for allowing students from non-christian backgrounds to stand in the hall if they did not want to participate. Our province still has publicly funded Catholic education contrary to the United Nations statements on human rights.EnigmaAtlas wrote:heres a true story.

Re: Religion in School
Post #3Religion is the opiate of the masses. Great extremes have occured to ensure the power of the church. While not related, I will have to say that for all those out there who chastise the US, at least the Lords prayer isn't said in school.EnigmaAtlas wrote:heres a true story.
