Hello to all!
I am currently at university studying teaching, specialising in history and studies of religion. I was attracted to this site due to the many intelligent debates and discussions, which seem to be lacking in many other sites.
Personally- I am an atheist, while my long term boyfriend is a devoted Christian- this leads to interesting conversations and has helped us both develop a greater degree of patience!
I am an avid reader, enjoying everything from Aristotle to Stephen King. My favourite books (at the moment) include any plays by Aristophanes, The Annals of Imperial Rome by Tacitus (for it's scandalous content!), April Fool's Day by Bryce Courtenay and It's Raining in Mango by Thea Astley.
I was raised in a strict Catholic household before making a decision to search for my own belief. This perhaps is one of my reasons for becoming a teacher of religious studies. I was able to form a view through my journey that, although not agreed upon by all (and wouldn't the world be a dull place without diversity!), has at its core a tolerance and love of all people. It is my greatest wish to promote this tolerance and love of all people to my students, regardless of their personal beliefs.
I look forward to contributing to this community, and developing a greater understanding of both 'sides of the fence'.
Cheers!
Sakura.
Greetings!

I have a strong background in ancient history! I see us getting along very well!
By the way, Lysistrata is the best play by Aristophanes!! Very funny and entertaining! As you can tell by my user name Sophocles' Antigone is one of my favorites, one of the only female 'heros' who are main characters in greek ancient writing. And who doesn't personify the greek ideals of what women should be.
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you. I am also new here, I joined yesterday.
Take care!
