My name is Monica. My husband, Jayson, is in the AF and we are of course stationed away from family. In some ways this can be disheartening, but it's also allowed me to take a step back and really examine the theology that I grew up with.
I just recently had our first son, Cameron, he is now 6 months old. When we began ttc my husband and I sat there and considered the different ways we would choose to raise our child. We have been together for several years, but this was not something that we had discussed.
Religion has always been a very real passion of mine. Our of curiosity my husband and I have also began taking a World Religion course. I grew up Southern Baptist, even went to a private school of that nature, then in high school my family converted to Mormonism. I think that this leap was the first real encouragement to step outside the box of what I was raised to believe in. The LDS church only worked for three years, for me and my family.
My next step was the history of the Bible and Christianity. For some reason I speculated that the further in history I went back (before multiple divisions) then, the closer to the truth. Funny. There's a reason those things aren't taught regularly. Needless to say I found myself falling down the proverbial rabbit hole. 8-[
To finish up this LONG WINDED  thread, my own final conclusion is that most religions are more interconnected than many think. I believe that most are to be taken lightly and the parables/teachings metaphorically so as to guide us to enlightenment. :-k
