If it wasn't a mistake, why is it important to snip it off?

It's a contradiction in terms of a very confused person who started a new religion and who threw overboard all the words of JC and the laws of God.

That could sound like a contradiction, but there is some confusion related to the fact that circumcision is a sign of the covenant. It was and still is associated with conversion to rabbinic Judaism. The point is that if one does not intend on keeping the covenant, the sign of the covenant doesn't mean anything

Circumcision is and remains a law of God. God rewards those who observe His commandments, even Gentiles who are not obligated to keep all of the Mosaic law.

This we see clearly in the fact that circumcision gives a lot of protection (no 100%) against evil diseases.

and one need not convert to rabbinic Judaism in order to be saved.

That's true, a non-Jew just has to keep the seven Noachide laws, and he'll be fine:

Such as? It may have helped in a culture that couldn't bathe regularly, but in today's society, where we can bathe properly, it has no health value. It is also a hindrance for sex because it eliminates glide. The vagina is supposed to moisten the folds of the uncircumcised penis which act as a sliding tube of moist skin. The circumcised penis causes a lack of moisture and an increase in chaffing, but your not interested in women's comforts so lets move on.
