can you be Christian and bI?
Post #1i know this sounds weird. One of the people I go to school with asked me this questian. So I became a little weird about it.I couldnt find the amswer. So what are your oppions?
Re: Hmmm...
Post #31I think you are telling the truth; I can't really tell.I recognize that cold rejection from many people is a problem for you. I'm trying not to be like that.
Beyond that, I feel exhausted where it concerns trying to change any of this.
None of this "changing", makes sense to me anymore.
Being straight would have been a great thing, when I was desperate to BE straight. But I cannot sincerely apologize for, or pretend that I want to change this.
I can't even talk about this anymore, because anything I say now will not make sense or be complete (unless you were inside of my mind). It's like I have used so much time trying to paint this picture for people, and then they break it over their knee.
No more, no more, no more.
I trusted God to change this, to a level that NO ONE should question (but they always do); I'm tired of that too. I don't WANT to be gay anymore than I did when I found out I was gay. If God doesn't KNOW that, then He is not the God I have believed He is. I cannot imagine I know His will on all of this stuff. If I wasn't born gay, this sure was a hideous thing to end up attached to.
I have a choice of viewing God as an unfeeling puppet-master, or a God who understands EVERY iota of fear, pain and rejection I've suffered in this life. I KNOW people can't GET that; they try but fail. Love is supposed to fill in the gaps, but few really trust the power of God's love. I've been on so many Christian forums, looking at and reading what people say Christianity is; how salvation is earned and lost (or never achieved). Amazing and interesting opinions, indeed.
Homosexuality can be talked about. And I'm not saying no other human can relate to me, just saying I'm so tired of trying to relate this at all.
Peace,

Re: can you be Christian and bI?
Post #32How many cardinals and male church members have molested little boys? The last time I checked, they were Christian. So there's your answer.can you be Christian and bI?
Did God create humans, or did humans create God?
God gives us the freedom of choosing what religion to believe in, and then sends prophets to convince us to believe in him. Strange, no?

i am bisexual and i find no morality issues with being bi.
i think its discriminatory for someone to tell me its wrong to admire both sexes.
the bible says its wrong about homosexuality, but then i think the bible's kinda demented.
being bi isnt wrong.

I don't disagree with the morality of your choice. But this is a debate and the question for debate is "Can you be Christian and BI?"Jenchol wrote:i am bisexual and i find no morality issues with being bi.

How do you answer? Yes or No. Why?
You have made some claims. "being bi isn't wrong." Others may disagree. How would you refute them?
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

sure. ofcorse u can be a christian and still be bi. i believe that as a christian you can't choose or changew your sexuality. its a natural thing that just comes to you. so if you believe in god and are bi... well it may sound like a contradiction but it can happen. christians can be bi.

I am a 21 year old male christian bisexual. I believe that it is completely alright to be both christian and Bi, or christian and gay, or, god forbid (!), christian and straight!! haha, just kidding.
I struggled with coming to terms with my sexuality because I never was very good with women and always had an attraction (both sexually and otherwise) for men as well. God never changed me, despite my attempts to convince him to.
I guess in order to put this into perspective, my parents seem to believe that it IS a sin, yet not necessarily a choice. They believe that due to life influences, I became bi. Yet, there are plenty of instances I know of where someone is gay, bi, tran, whatever, and have not had traumatic experiences, they just are what they are.
Anyways, I dont think the bible is completely 100% clear on the concept of homosexuality (or bisexuality). For the verses of leviticus, those are outdated laws, and if you think they are not, then you obviously dont know what leviticus is. I wont get into that. Sodom and Gomorrah is a prime example of pop culture turning a story that isn't about homo's into a negative story about gays. It is really a story of rape, rape being the search for power. When the story talks about Sodom and Gomorrah's sin, the sin is explicitly explained later in the bible as sins of greed, power-hungry, etc. Yet no other scripture refers to "homosexual behavior" as a cause for sodom and gomorrah's downfall. This is because when the villagers asked to have the visitors come down so they could "know them", this was going to be a show of victory. Exactly what rape is, a show of power and victory over an enemy or stranger. It is implicit in its meaning. It was (AND IS) very common for villagers, and soldiers to guard and/or claim territory by "defiling" and raping the inhabitants.
As for other bible verses that "condemn" homosexuality, When paul wrote about (can't remember book and verse)* "homosexuality", you have to look at history and see around what time he was there. He was in rome in a time when pagan religion was semi-strong, yet beginning to dwindle a small amount. Thats regardless of the fact that during this time in history, it was not unheard of for these pagan religions to hold mass sexual orgies, as a belief that it would bring then closer to God(s). Thus, this scripture verse = misinterpreted by pop culture.
Another would be (can't remember the book and verse)*, where homosexuality is explicity stated as "homosexuality". This word wasn't around when the bible was written. The root for that translated version was two words, one which means: when an older man pays a younger man for sex, and the other is assumed to mean (b/c it is never used again, kind of like a made up word) b/c of context: a young boy who accepts money for sex from an older man.
Regardless of all of this, Jesus never said anything about it. Jesus encouraged independant thought and to treat the Bible as a "living book", moving with the times.
Anyways, hopefully this helps.
* = If you want the books and verses, I will look it up.

Post #37You can, but then you're going to Hell. Hm, actually, if Christianity is true, then you're going to Hell for being bi regardless of what religion you believe in.rapture101 wrote:can you be Christian and bI ?
This what most Christians seem to believe, regardless of what it says in the Bible (and it says a lot of contradictory things, anyway). Sometimes, I have a vision of Jesus coming down from Heaven, wielding a giant whip -- and proceeding to go all medieval on those Christians, screaming "Hypocrites !!!1!!" at the top of his holy lungs.

This is a bit off-topic, but I'm curious: where in the Bible does Jesus say that ? The Bible I know is heavy on "thou shalt not", and light on "use your own head".Kai wrote:Jesus encouraged independant thought and to treat the Bible as a "living book", moving with the times.

Well I guess one could say that someone would go to hell for being gay(bi, w/e), yet here is yet another argument, more of an intellectual kind b/c it requires you to put the theory together urself, although it seems fairly logical.
If in fact our souls have no gender, then why would it matter? I guess I see falling in love with a person rather than with a person within a gender. Since your soul doesn't have a gender anyways, it shouldn't really matter. People are people and are not defined by their gender, rather, who they are.
Because the reasons for procreation are dead and gone, the world is full by all accounts...what is needed now is responsible people to help raise all the extra children everywhere...
By the bible, jesus did away with unneeded rules and regulations because the times had changed and intellect had grown to understand more concepts. This is where I get the "living book". Besides, Jesus didn't like the pharisee's very much. The pharisee's now a days would be the people who believe that strict adherence to rules is what God really desires...whereas what God really desires is your love and admiration, and putting him first in your life...
Kinda sounded like rambling, sorry....
