Stephen Colbert

So first (if you have time) here is a link to a 24 minute video of Stephen Colbert being quite literally the bravest man in America today. No need to watch if you've already seen it. Just a little background info, this is at the White House Correspondants Association dinner. Stephen Colbert is a guest speaker and long story short, he rips on everyone from the President, to his staff, and even the media itself! The best part is he does it to their face.

Now the question is do you think what Mr. Colbert was at all inappropriate? Why or why not?

I got a few chuckles out of it, but I was also a bit appalled.

The best part was his spoofing on Justice Scalia, because when the camera panned to Scalia's face you could see that he was truly enjoying the joke. Also liked his referring to Washingon DC as "the chocolate city with the marshmallow center".

What bothered me mostly was his tone of voice/delivery when he was poking fun at Bush, which is why I take Jon Stewart over Colbert any day of the week. Stewart usually takes a very impish tone when he pokes fun at a politician. Colbert can go overboard with the sarcasm and sometimes comes across as strident. Just my own personal taste when it comes to humor ... if you keep it lighthearted I generally enjoy it more.

If it matters, I will add that I'm a democrat and I voted for Kerry.
